Teine is divided; the lower part, Olympia is a fabulous area for novices and the upper part, Highlands, has good skiing for all abilities.
Huge rental department, well equipped. Excellent ski school.
Very handy for a day trip from Sapporo.
Big restaurant with a wide selection of food and drinks.
I loved the place.

Fantastic place to pick up skiing for my kids. Enjoyed fresh snowfall overnight and kids benefited immensely from the ski instructors (shout out Sato-San and team).

The entire experience was convenient and hassle free, the beginners course was isolated from the main visiting population and accorded students a good 2 hours of basic training.

The afternoon was spent working our way through the main course, but with Sato and team closely supervising us to manage oncoming skier traffic and to ensure safety.

The final stretch of the course allowed us to then apply all that was learned with the instructor teams monitoring from a distance.

Access to Teine is easy enough: take a train there direct from Sapporo JR Station. From the station a shuttle bus picks you up and drops you off at Teine Olympia- where registration, rentals and equipment pickup are all sorted out.

Will very likely go back again!

We decided on this ski resort after reading about the quality of the snow, and the simple all-inclusive public lesson pricing. Advance booking is a must.

The JR train ride from Sapporo station to Teine station took about 20 mins. The bus terminal for bus 70 to Mt Teine is right next the station. Bus frequency is very limited so don’t miss the 9:10am bus if you’re going on a weekday.

Arriving at 9:30am, we queued to make payment. Then queued to get our gears. After depositing our bags in the coin-operated lockers, we were barely ready at 10:30am. The instructors escorted outside to the lesson ground before 11am.

The first 1-1/2 hours lesson covered the basics with 30~50m runs.
Thereafter we stopped for lunch at their huge cafeteria. The next 1-1/2 lesson saw us taking the gondola to the upper slopes. From there we were guided along the way down (2 to 3 km) with frequent stops. The instructors gave tips along the way and were great esp with kids and adult stragglers. There was a lady instructor who spoke good English and was very patient with us.

I’m glad we took the whole day lesson as the second half was more useful and enjoyable. The cost diff was 3,000 yen only but you will have a more comprehensive and meaningful first ski lesson. Everyone in the family enjoyed it.

The lesson ended at 3pm and the bus came also at 3pm.

At you will have seen from other reviews the next bus was at 5pm (sunset at 4:30pm). So be prepared to wait to the dark, cold and open space. There were more than 4 of us so taxi was not a viable option. When bus 70 arrived, it could squeezed half the number of folks in the queue. Thankfully JR sent another bus a minute behind.

My 2 children and I took our first skiing lessons with Ms Wakana. She is a great, and patient teacher. As the kids were fast learners, she took them to a steeper slope.
The facilities were new, so was all the rental equipment. I would highly recommend this place to any beginners.
