Clean, Modern, great for business

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Oct 7, 2012
The hotel is clearly aimed for business travelers. Its compact, clean, but please don't expect the classic 5 star hotel services here. The staff is polite, but this hotel is aimed at clients who require very little. The lounge downstairs is a great touch, they offer coffee and tea during certain hours.
All in all, i really enjoyed the hotel. they gave excellent restaurant recommendations, the room was clean, and they were able to provide me with wifi access in the room which was extremely helpful.
the only downside is that they wont help you store your luggage unless you pick it up on the same day. It was a little troublesome as I took some trips out of Sapporo.
The location is also impeccable. 2 blocks from the JR station. Great for shopping, food and of course, traveling within Hokkaido.

Mitsui Garden Hotel is conveniently located about two blocks away from the JR Sapporo Station.
The hotel is quite new and modern. We really liked the staff, very accommodating and understanding. There are few people at the reception, who are quite good in English and a bit of patience you can get through. Breaky is an optional item and its daily menu (Japanese and Western) does not vary much. One good thing for iPad/iPhone users is that you can request for free a wireless modem kit for your room (limited quantity though) with instructions in English. All features in the room are modern and in working order.

Room tip: Rooms facing the main street might be noisier than the other ones. Our impression was that the main source of noise was the sound from the pedestrian crossing rather than from vehicles

The perk of this hotel is its location, very close to Sapporo station, which is convenient if you are making day trips to nearby cities like Otaru.

The hotel itself is very cozy, a modern deco hotel. The double room we stay is a bit small. Not much space left after we have our 2 big luggage opened.

The hotel has a public bath (not a hot spring), but it can get very crowded at around 9pm, you may need to line up to take a shower before/after going to the bath.

Cozy neighborhood hotel. Central location in downtown Sapporo. Larger than average rooms. Full range of room amenities- that you might expect. Suites aesthetically pleasing, but pricey. Modern contemporary style.

The Mitsui Garden Hotel in Sapporo is just a stone's throw away from the train station, the Odori promenade and the famous TV Tower. The rooms are fairly small, which is typical of Japanese hotels, but they come with a ton of amenities (various toiletries, slippers, robes, etc) and they are impeccably clean. If you get a room on the north side of the building you will end up facing the neighboring building's walls. However these rooms are quieter than the ones facing the main road on the south side of the building.

Room tip: Rooms facing north have no views but are more quiet than those facing south.

This is a very clean and modern hotel. The hotel staff was extremely helpful, I was early when checking in, so left my luggage with them in the morning, when I got back to the hotel in the evening, everything was transferred to my room already. Service was spot-on.

Their public bath was very clean and decorated. Although it wasn't a huge public bath, but it can relax your body and tired muscles after a long day trip.

If I have to pick a bad point about them. They should have provided coffee and English tea bags in the room as well. Rather than only 2 green tea and no free bottled water. Otherwise, it'll 100% perfect!!
