“Modern, clean, efficient, convenient”
Reviewed December 2, 2013

Stayed for 3 nights in October. Airport limobus stops opposite at Toyoko Inn, so you have to pull your luggage across the road - no biggie since it's just literally 1 minute away.

There's a Lawson convenience store next door and many eating places around with Tanukikoji shopping arcade a 5 minute walk away. There's a subway station about 50m away but the hotel provides free shuttle bus to Odori Park.

The twin room we had was upgraded to a superior which was excellent - it came with a free Nespresso coffee maker. Room faced the main road but it was very quiet - no traffic noise at all. Bed and pillows very comfortable and there were 2 pillows for each bed. Bathroom very modern and clean.

However, there is no free bottled water unless you are an Accor member, and then only 2 bottles were given but a kettle is provided. We did not take the hotel breakfast.

Very good value for money.

This modern and contemporary Mercure is located in the Susikino Entertainment District of downtown Sapporo and conveniently situated within a two minute walk of two subway line stations. There is an Airport Limousine Bus stop one block from the hotel. Sapporo Station is two subway stops away or an easy, and enjoyable, 20 minute walk above or below ground.

My check-in was handled efficiently by a very pleasant and welcoming staff member. All of the reception staff I had contact with during my three day stay were all similarly pleasant and helpful and all spoke English with ease.

My room was modern, contemporary, clean, well maintained and reasonably spacious for a hotel room in Asia. The décor and furnishings gave the room an upscale feel. The room included a hot water kettle with tea and instant coffee, a refrigerator, guest safe, and flat screen TV. There was only one English language channel. The bed was very comfortable with clean and crisp linens. The bathroom was fairly spacious, immaculately clean, had a bathtub, and nice amenities were provided (see photos).

The hotel has a restaurant and bar, neither of which I visited. The hotel offers free Wi-Fi access or alternatively there are two computers next to reception that are available for guest use.

Overall, I had a very pleasant and comfortable stay and will definitely stay at this property in the future if my plans bring me to the south part of Seoul.

GETTING THERE

I took the JR Airport Express Train to Sapporo Station, then the subway for two stops to Susikino Station. The train fare is 1040 Yen and the subway fare is 200 Yen (about US$12 total). Total travel time, including the transfer, is about one hour. I found the train more comfortable than the bus (see below). The transfer from train to subway is easy as signage is multilingual including English. Take the subway headed in the direction of Odori Station (the next stop). Alight at the Susikino Station (one stop further) and exit via Exit #4 (because this exit has an escalator). Turn left when you reach the street and walk straight for about two short blocks. The hotel will be on your right.

I returned to the airport via the Airport Limousine Bus because the trains do not start operating until a little after 6AM. The bus stop is directly across the street from the Mercure and one block to the left. The fare is 1000 Yen (about US$10). Be forewarned, the bus makes MANY stops on the way to the airport. Travel time at that early hour of the morning was about 1.5 hours and every seat on the bus was occupied. Upon arrival at the airport, the bus driver would not open the baggage hold on the bus until all passengers had departed and paid their fare. This added an additional 10 minutes to the journey.

great location, attentive staff and reasonably sized rooms. Limousine bus stops to and from new Chitose airport located just a couple of minutes walk. Breakfast was something of a disappointment but we didn't let that mar our stay. Overall a marvellous stay.

Opposite to the general kani restaurant, 24-hour sushi sanmai and ramen street round the corner, you just can't beat the convenience. Also walking distance to the big department stores and the shopping streets.
The room is decent, new, and clean. The hotel breakfast is also up to standard. In the past we stayed by the sapporo station but it's dead quiet at night. We love this hotel and will be our top hotel choice in Sapporo now!

Stayed on 16 and then the other two days on 24&25 Oct.

The location is very convenient. Walkable distance to main attractions in Sapporo. 2-3Minutes walk from airport bus stop. Restaurants and conven stores nearby open until midnight and some even for 24hours.

Hotel room is neat, clean as if other Mercure I have been. Specious as compared to other hotels at similar rate. Got a very good deal as Accor member under promotion. Suggest to join the membership before making reservation.

Staff were superb helpful in general except one or two at reception desk could be more polite. Impressed about high English level of staff. Sometimes it's difficult to communicate with hotel staff in Japan, but here was not the case.

Lots of famous food around there, famous ramen, Crab and some 24 hours Gyudon. Ramen alley is 5 minutes walk. The famous Nanda seafood buffet is around the corner. There are many convenient store near this hotel, the nearest one is just beside hotel entrance.

I just spent a night in the Mercure Sapporo. I was pleasantly surprised by my room (702). It was nicer than I had expected, having stayed at several other Mercures over the past year. Reception is on the 3rd floor which gets you away from the noisy (and often inebriated) ground floor traffic of Susukino, Sapporo's entertainment district. The staff were pleasant and personable, speak good English, and the entire hotel is non-smoking, which is a huge plus here in Japan. The cost, for Japan, was very reasonable for what you are getting, and the rooms are pretty spacious. The Mercure Sapporo is my new home away from home when I come into Sapporo for a night on the town.
