“fine, pleasant buffet”
Reviewed March 6, 2013

The 2000-yen buffet is an "order buffet", which means a buffet, plus you can order one entree. The entrees are small but superb. Try the deer if you see it on the menu. The fish is also excellent. The buffet features French-skewed Western food, in line with the hotel's French ownership. The staff are really friendly, and it's casual enough for kids.

This is not the most dessert-oriented buffet, but the station with cured meats, olives and imported and Hokkaido domestic cheeses more than makes up for it. Large windows look north over a wide street.

We arrived by air and were advised to take the public bus to Suzukino which cost 1000 Yen. The bus ride was just over an hour and when you get off at Suzukino Subway, the hotel is just across the main road 2 mins away. However if you are at the International terminal, I would strongly advise you to walk to the JAL or ANA terminals (not far) and get on the bus at the first stop. Because when we got on the bus at the International terminal, the bus had very little space left for our luggage and our family had to sit separated.

The hotel it self was modern and clean. Staff very friendly and helpful, speaking good English as you would expect from international chain hotels. If you've been to any Japanese hotels you'll know how small the rooms are, but our double room was relatively spacious compared to other hotels we had stayed at (with floor space to open up 3 suitcases). Double bed was not huge, but enough for 2 adults plus a kid. Room and bathroom were otherwise nicely furnished with LCD TV and free Wifi in room.

There must have been at least 100 restaurants within 10mins walk from the hotel, so you won't have trouble finding places to eat. Convenient stores and supermarkets were also very close by.

The hotel provides a free shuttle to and from JR Sapporo Station via the Odori Subway station. There were about 5 services spread throughout the day, and took us 30mins the reach the JR Sapporo station in the daytime city traffic. They was no luggage space on the bus but they will not object to you carrying some on as long as the bus was not full.

Room Tip: We stayed on 12th floor facing the back which was nice and quiet.

Room are spacious, clean and modern. Has individual wifi for each room which is really great. Location is very near to subways but if you have heavy luggage please check with the hotel on their free shuttle bus as it will be quite difficult to go to & fro subways especially in heavy snows. Customer service is excellent and I would say well versed in English and very helpful. Has many restaurants nearby.

Quite near to susukino shopping area but 15 minute walk underground to the JR station, especially good for winter. The staff is very friendly, professional and speaking very good English, being rare in Japan. This hotel is quite near to Ramada hotel, only 3-5min walk, where you can take bus to Niseko or Airport. We will stay here definitely next time.

This hotel easily surpasses the quality of other hotels in Sapporo, and surpasses much of what you might expect from a Mercure chain hotel. The showers have lovely granite, the higher floors have excellent views, and the location is ideal if you'd like to head out in the evening and take part in the energy of the city. I was especially impressed by the Front Desk staff, who had excellent conversational English. A great hotel!

The hotel is right in the heart of the susukino neighborhood...short walk to the ramen alley...staff are very helpful especially Gorny Romain of guest relations...a month before our trip, he has been helping me plan my trip especially our day trip to Niseko which is a lovely place...I fell in love with Hokkaido and will definitely go back and Mercure will be my one and only choice of stay next time I visit sapporo.

The Mercure are usually always good and new and clean, same for this one. location is a bit far from the JR station but a 5 minute taxi or 15 minute walk under ground gets you there. Still its close to the famous crab restaurant and other shops. Room are clean and restaurant is not bad too. Overall a good 3 star hotel and still by Sapporo standards, one of the best in the city !
