My wife and I stayed here for two nights in September to attend a friend's wedding. There was a concert in town the same weekend, and we booked late, so this was one of the only hotels available, and was still not that cheap. The word I would use to describe our stay is "cramped." The room was tiny. And I'm speaking in terms of typical Japanese hotel rooms. They are often small, but our room was ridiculous. If one of us sat in the chair at the table, there was no way for the other to walk between the bed and the bathroom or exit - we either had to climb over each other or move. And the "desk" itself was barely as deep as my MacBook. I had quite a lot of work to do, and needed desk space, which was taken up entirely by the hotel information and pamphlets, which I put in a pile in the closet. The hotel had absolutely no redeeming qualities. It was old. I've stayed at APA hotel properties elsewhere in Sapporo, Tokyo and Yokohama, and I've always been pleased with their modernity and service. That was the main reason that I booked this hotel at the price available. But this location does not match up. Finally, to add insult to injury, the location is not particularly good, far to the south and west of anything interesting in the city. Bottom line: In a city with an abundant variety of good, centrally located and reasonably price hotels, unless you are staying here for free, avoid the APA Hotel Sapporo Odorikoen.
