This was a very nice hotel in an excellent location, backing on to the West Lake. The room was in an annexe to the reception building, but it was a lovely room, very nicely furnished and very spacious. The lack of Wifi in the room was a nuisance, but there was free wifi in the lobby area.

There are a few on site restaurants and also a nice Costa coffee house right next to the hotel. Good shopping areas are all within a 5 minute walk of the hotel.

We also made use of the table tennis room in the adjoining building.

Happy to recommend this hotel, will definitely stay here any time I am in HangZhou.

This hotel is pleasantly located right next to West Lake, allowing us to stroll around with ease. Rooms are clean and comfortable. We stayed on 4th floor so were not disturbed by any noise or mosquitoes.

Staff at the conciege was helpful and very nice to spend ~20 mins to tell us what's best to do to explore West Lake and what famous Hangzhou cuisine we could try.

If going to Hangzhou again, will definitely choose to stay at this hotel again.

This hotel is on the waters edge of the West Lake with views across to the hills opposite as well as the city skyline. You can step out of the hotel and go for long walks along the lakeside paths and stop off at the pagoda and parklands. If the weather, mist and unfortunate city pollution cooperate the views are splendid. This is an amazing natural feature so close to a busy city and it has a calming effect. The hotel itself is not five star but provides an acceptable level of comfort and although not a lot of fluent English was spoken there were plenty of smiles and help provided. I only ate breakfast at the hotel and although mainly Chinese food was available there was plenty of fresh fruit and also cereal for western tastes. If you want to enjoy the lake and have some peace this is a good choice. My room cost about 800 yuan per night which I thought was reasonable by comparison with other city hotels.

Room Tip: If you like to sleep with the window open without aircon then ask for a second level room. The compound has security but this would be safer.

DaHua is a very convenient lakeside hotel for visiting the famous and beautiful West Lake in Hangzhou. The room is reasonably spacious with Chinese style decoration. In general clean but the carpet has some stains. The staff are rather nice and helpful. However, like many other hotels in China, the rooms usually have a bit cigarette smell (even you requested for a non-smoking room) and not many staff can speak fluent English. The breakfast is mainly Chinese style and not very attractive. For those westerners, they may want to go to nearby café to get a simple toast and a cup of coffee.

Overall, the hotel is in a very good location. If you are not very demanding and able to get a good bargain, you can consider staying there for a short visit to the West Lake. I would give a 3.5 points for my stay.

Room Tip: Better get a room in the second floor (the hotel only has two storeys).

What a dissapointment!

Staff speaks virtually no English and were not service oriented whatsoever.

Room condition was poor. Terrible smell in the room and carpet and furniture were very dirty. No TV channels in English, good thing I was not there for TV anyway. For some strange reason they decided that condoms were a necessary nightstand item?

This is a hotel catering to the domestic client and it shows. Stay away if you expect different standards!
