Overall a very pleasent stay!

The hotel is not so new. But they have friendly staff and managers and the hospitality was great.

We have a very nice lake view room. And we all love to eat in Hubin28.

My family and i stayed in the garden king room which was ok. the outside terrace provided a good view of westlake but the terrace itself was rather uninspiring (cigarette ends, table and two chairs etc). although i requested a non smoking room there was no escaping the string smell of cigarette smoke along the corridors. able to communicate with staff but level of english did appear to be not as good as other hotels that i've stayed in. the spa is nothing special - did the aromatherapy 100mins massage - was disappointed. recommend you just skip the spa club. no sign or special counter etc for gold passport members which again i felt was inconsistent with other Hyatt hotels.

I picked this hotel for its location--many other high-end options around West Lake are significantly pricier. This one, while still more than I wanted to pay, was a bit more affordable while giving you a prime location on the lake. We were right across from the water and light show on the lake and a buggy stop (there are golf-cart-like buggies you can take around the lake); we were also a two-minute walk from a boat stop where you could take a boat to the island in the lake.

Service was very exact and proper--they had all the motions down, giving us late check-out when they found out we were taking a late afternoon train, being unfailingly polite, carrying bags and rushing to help. I will say it all felt a bit impersonal; the hotel was huge and the lobby felt somewhat like a railway station. The one person who really went the extra mile and seemed to be putting his heart into his job was the older gentleman in charge of getting taxis for guests--he found us one at rush hour by actually jumping into an off-duty cab and forcing it come take us to the train station! That was impressive. The concierge was also helpful and suggested some nice excursions for us.

The room was nice, clean, and well laid out. The bed was a bit soft for my taste, but my mother declared it incredibly comfortable, so it's a matter of opinion. The toiletries were excellent. We didn't have breakfast included in our room, but we did end up having a la carte breakfast in the restaurant--that was one of the weaker points of our stay, as the service was slow, prices were high, and the food arrived cold.

Overall, however, this was a good choice to be in a great spot on the lake--you pay for it, but not nearly as much as at some comparable hotels nearby, and you get good service and a nice room in addition to a perfect location.

Room Tip: Some rooms look out at the lake, while some face an internal courtyard.

The Hangzhou Hyatt was very nice but falls short of suberb. The breakfast was very similar to that at the Grand Hyatt Shanghai (a hotel I call superb) but not as well executed, -- e.g., some of the "hot" foods were not hot. The staff was helpful but not to 5-star level. I also had some problems with the bill checkout, and although all was resolved appropriately, there was not a real apology for the inconvenience. instead some irrelevant thing I did was blamed for the problem. Finally, although the location is very close to the West Lake, it is on the East side which is very crowded. Next time I might try the Shangri-La, especially if the rumored rennovation is done there.

How to go?
You can take a bus number 7 at Hangzhou HSR station and it cost only RMB2. Alight at 5th stop and take a 5 mins walk to the hotel opposite the bus stop across the road.

Room:
I stayed at Lake View King room. This room gives a very good view of the West Lake. Though I stay at a higher floor, I still feel the building in front which house the swimming pool is an eye sore to else the fantastic view. I was located to one side and so I only manage to have a partial view of the lake. However, the musical foundation is just right in front. So you can watched the performance right in your room by the bay window! The room size is ok. There is a sitting area and a writing desk. The amenities in the room are pretty standard. Mini fridge, a large LCD TV, safe etc... The bed is rather comfortable. The pillows are great too. There are complementary bottle waters and free wifi. It also provide free longans in the room. But no complementary newspaper provided.

Bathroom:
The bathroom is of good size. It is of all marble design. There is nice bathtub and showering area are located on the right. The rain forest shower is good too. The downside is that the feel of the towels are not as good as compared to other big chain hotels. Standard bathroom amenities are all there.

Services:
When I arrive at the entrance lobby, no one helps me with my baggage. The check in is fast and so is the check out. The counter staff is friendly and speaks rather good English. The staffs at the door is pretty helpful and greets you at times. There is turn down service. Initially I have some issue and call up the counter but could not be solved. I have to go down personally to the counter to speak to them, then it is solved readily. Perhaps it is difficult to communicate with them thru a phone.

Amenities
There is a nice big indoor swimming pool. At night, the lounge has jazz which is great place to chill.

Hotel:
The location of the hotel is fantastic! It sits right on the shopping belt of Hangzhou. You can easily assessed to many shopping malls to get your branded. Not to mentioned tonnes of eateries outlet are just round the corner. Starbucks is just outside the hotel. If you do not take breakfast in hotel, a famous local breakfast store (Zi Wei Guan) is just a stone throw away. Opposite the hotel is the famous West Lake and you can stroll along the pavement for the nice scenery. The musical foundation is also just opposite. There are shows frequently. Taking a cab in Hangzhou is famously painful. That is why I opt for bus and just outside the hotel has a bus stop which has bus to take you to some tourist spots in like less than 20 mins and the frequency of the bus is high. Best of all, it cost only RMB2.

Verdict:
Hyatt is situated on a very good location as it is very easy accessible to shops, food and tourist spots. It is not very crowded at the lobby and come quite fast. The room has a nice view of West Lake. Staffs are friendly. So I would recommend this hotel!

Room Tip: Get a higher floor room facing the west lake.

I stayed for two nights in this hotel and I would rate it as one of the best hotels I have stayed in yet. Excellent service and exceptionally comfortable beds. They gave me a complimentary late check out on my last day as my train did not leave until 16.30. The food at the in house Chinese restaurant was also fantastic.

Perfect location facing the West Lake. Walking distance to all the shops & restaurants, and by taxi to all other sightseeing (5-15 mins drive, no worries the taxi fare is cheap). Starbucks just next to the hotel & perfect for coffee drinker like me.
Staff is very helpful & speck English. That morning before we were leaving to another town nearby Hangzhou, ie Wuzhen, the concierge indeed very helpful by providing us very useful information & guided us to the 'wanted' bus terminal in order for us to get to our next destination (the bus terminal we got from the website was outdated).
