This hotel is well located, just off what seems to be a major Interstate in Hangzhou and within walking distance of shopping and a beautiful little canal. (3 blocks away is a silk market, with several blocks of well-prices silk clothing of all kinds. Don't miss this.) If you are going to Hangzhou specifically to visit beautiful West Lake, then find a closer hotel. This one is a little far from there. It wasn't the fanciest hotel I've visited in China, but the service was attentive and the place was clean with all the amenities one would need. This would be considered an excellent (but not luxury) hotel in the U.S. Enough of the staff spoke English that I never had a problem communicating a need. I had a room that faced the busy street. The view was great, but the traffic noise took some getting used to. There do seem to be rooms that face away from the street, so ask for those if you're sensitive to sound. There are only three non-smoking floors, and you have to ask specifically if you want a non-smoking room. I received a smoking room but didn't notice any smoking smells, so the filter must be decent. If you are in Hangzhou in the summer you will need air conditioning. It is legit HOT here. The a.c. in the hotel rooms worked well. On to food: The hotel restaurant is very good. The buffet, open breakfast, lunch and dinner, has a huge selection of food. From Chinese stir fry to dim sum to a noodle soup station to sushi to pancakes/eggs/bacon, there's a cuisine to fit your every mood. Tons of fruit and breads and juices. The bed in my room was just right: firm, with high-quality bedding. The room was a typical size, nothing too luxurious. It had a desk and a comfy chair for reading, besides the bed and a typical hotel bathroom. There was only one 110v plug in the room, so recharging all the devices took some juggling. Oh, and you ladies with hair, bring your own hair dryer. The one in the room resembled a 1950s vacuum cleaner and was way too weak to dry anything but short hair. The hotel has a beautiful pool, squash court, billiard room and a fitness center. Over all, this is a good quality hotel that I would recommend to anyone visiting Hangzhou. It's not as fancy as the new, over-the-top luxury hotels you sometimes encounter in China, but THOSE cavernous rooms with marble bathrooms can feel kind of soulless. Happy travels to Hangzhou. Don't miss the West Lake District while you're here!
