We were expecting something quite traditional with handmade arts and crafts. The Hefang market isn't that exactly, but there are interesting things to see and buy; mostly silks (beware of the polyester items mixed in with the rest!), teas, local snacks, and general knickknacks.
Definitely entertaining!

From traditional Chinese medicine to hipster cafes, you will be able to experience an array of cultures blended into one, representative of modern day China. I particularly liked the ancient design of the street with the modern interiors.

This place has a certain charm about it, the ancient buildings and all. The setback is that it has become a tad too commercialised. I suppose life must move on even for the Chinese and there is no reason why they have to stand still in time just so that we foreigners may have a glimpse of how their great grandpas lived. Fair.

Lots of shops selling Long Jing tea, have a sip and try out the different types of tea, some of them are selling at CN$10 per 50 grams, extremely affordable!
Lots of chinese medicine shops as well, walk into the small alley you will see some tranditional buildings of old Song/Ming/Qing dynesty, sometimes they will have photographic competition as well. Go have a look!

Went to take a stroll on this street after dinner. (Tip: have dinner on the street parallel to this one, there's over 20 different Chinese restaurants to try their local foods). Plenty of little shops and activities. Stay away from 10 Yuan products!
