Stumbled into this street as it was near our hotel. Plenty of shops selling the typical stuff you find everywhere in China plus a few unique things like a guy who will make a clay sculpture of your face in 15 minutes.

Hefang Street is actually quite large. If you do not want to walk around, you can take a tour via the tram which cost RMB5 one way. The tram will tour around the place and explain the history of some of the buildings as we passed through the many streets. Unfortunately, the recorded explanation are in Mandarin. Anyhow, it'll give you a perspective of how large the place is and you can alight at any place you want. You can also take the tram again to return to the entrance (pay another RMB5) or choose to walk.

We spend a couple of hours at Hefang Street, had our dinner before taking a taxi to West Lake Impression (RMB17).

This place is better than Nanning Street as there are more to offer on items. Of course
you can bargain and cheap. Food is everywhere and you can try on the streets, Silk scaves,
Longing Tea and lots of shops, colourful at night with lanterns. Most of all try the fermented
tofu which i cant stand the smell....try it is yummy...

We found this place on a tour to the old still existing pharmacy and its museum tucked away from the Main Street. We went back a couple of times to walk around and people watch. Most of the stores in buildings do not bargain. However, the push cart stalls will haggle with you. My sons Chinese girlfriend was a great help in the negotiations! Good place for souvenirs.

Another period street full of nice shops and teahouses and always bursting with tourists looking for good bargains. I got so many souvenirs here for pretty cheap prices- especially loved the "just like silk" scarves. It is a very colorful place- especially the lighted flying kites and lanterns are a treat to watch. The handicraft sops are delightful too. Great for souvenir hunting and people watching.
