“Very nice hotel”
Reviewed August 18, 2011

I stay here often on business, although not by choice as my employer books my accommodation. The rooms are a very good standard, very clean and nicely decorated. The breakfast buffet is excellent, as is the dinner buffet, and the gym has everything I need. Room service is adequate and they actually speak English and are able to take your order. The front desk staff and restaurant staff also have a good level of English speaking skills.

There are only a few small negatives as far as I am concerned - 1) The water temperature keeps going hot and cold in the shower, and this is not just an isolated occurrence, it happens every time I stay there and in different rooms. 2) The rooms get a bit stuffy and hot at night time, I think they must turn the air conditioning off at night. 3) The location is not great, you'll probably need to take a taxi if you want to go anywahere, although there are many good local eateries nearby. 4) I get woken up often by noisy military aeroplanes, there must be an airforce base nearby.

Overall I would not hesitate to stay here again and would have rated it 5 stars if not for the minor points above.

Rooms are very comfortable and quite, plenty of western channels if you stuck inside.
Location is a bit far from west lake, probaly stay at shangri la next time more close to the tourist area.
Executive lounge is well equipped lovely staff.

Location is actually not one of our advantages. We are around 20 minutes away from West Lake and more than 10 minutes by taxi from Hangzhou Tower, the most popular shopping centre in Hangzhou. In case of any need, you could contact our Concierge, who will call a taxi in advance and reduce the time you need. Thanks for your compliments on rooms, TV channels, executive lounge and the service, we will keep up and expect your next stay.

Looks like this is a new hotel (may be close to an year old) and hence is very clean and up to date. Stayed here for 3 nights on business and taseted one of the best Chicken Biryani ever I had in China - so far! Surprise to find Indian main course on room service in Hangzhou (my first visit to this city). Hotel is very close to CBD & famed West Lake.
They have a reasonably well stocked Bar (Insomnia) on the ground floor. Breakfast is a bit disappontment though! The place they serve breakfast is a bit clumsy. Not up to Crowne Plaza's standard. At one end, rows of tables & chairs with out cutlery. Poor quality paper napkins instead of cloth napkins.
Really liked their GYM. One of the well equipped I had seen so far (in a hotel). Spend almost 75 minutes there!!
Internet bandwidth is horribly slow. Slowest I had seen in any hotel, till date that too they charge 60 CNY / day for the same!!
I haven't find any restaurants near by so that I can walk and try different food. But by taxi, city centre & west lake are not too far.

The location of the hotel is bad as it is away from places of interest, resturants and shopping. If you did not hire any private guide with a car, you will end up eating all your dinner in the hotel. H
the breakfast is great and a good spread. Getting a taxi in Hangzhou is a nightmare....

Personally, I think it's a great hotel to stay for one night. We were upgraded to excecutive level and rooms are spacious. The cleanliness of the rooms, lobby, fitness center, and pool is up to 5-stars standard. Wide selection of food is available for breakfast and dinner buffet. Crowne plaza always serve the best food and reflect local characteristics.

The hotel staffs at the front desk were very helpful during check-in but was not able to provide us a driving guide when we called before arrived. Guess those ladies don't drive much in Hangzhou and they could have transferred my call to hotel concierge.

All the waitors are courteous and work hard to keep the restaurant and other places organized. but would be better if they can improve English speaking capability. One of our guests had problems requesting more free bottle water and scheduling a morning call. Hopefully we would not have to deal with this again in the future.

One last thing, the room glass are not completely soundproof. So the traffice noise from nearby elevated roads could be noticed at night. If you're a light sleeper, you have to request a room oriented away from traffics.
