This hotel has seen better days. As is often the case in China, maintenance here is not emphasized and the facilities have gotten a bit dirty and tired. The staff is not particularly helpful. The breakfast was good, especially the noodle soup. One thing not to miss is the bathroom amenities. On the vanity I found an absolutely hilarious bathtub liner is available for purchase for the tub. Reading the instructions was worth the stay.

Checked in on 18 Mar 2013. Generally OK with basic amenities except things are quite dated but well maintained. Things I did not expect about the hotel was that there was no city map available at the reception. There is free internet in the room but not wifi - hence you need a lap top to be connected. Beauty is that no password is required. We checked in late and dinner can be had at food outlets opposite the hotel. Breakfast offered a wide array of food however orange juice are served in jugs and not the usual dispenser one would expect. If you do not like Chinese food, there is not much choice except for white bread and cakes. All in, a much average hotel.

Good location to get to both city center and air port, both can be reached within 20 min by taxi. Not too much nightlife choices around the hotel.

The room service and equipment are good. But not meet 4 star standard. A good choice for business trip. I had been there in winter days, and the room warming equipment seemed not very good and I felt a little cold at night.

Stayed here on business. It's a large and spacious place with many amenities. Great buffet breakfast with wide selection of food and coffee as good as it will be in a hotel in China. Wifi is fast in the lobby and bar areas. The rooms are good though not great but at this price it's a safe bet and good choice

For the price they charge, the hotel is a very good option, especially compared to the Sakura just across the road which has deteriorated drastically over the last couple of years. The room was clean and the towels were new. There are a variety of restaurants and surprisingly, the western food was quite good in the first floor restaurant. The hotel rooms are quiet and away from the traffic and in spite of being an old hotel, it is quite well maintained. Avoid using the hotel transport to the airport for which they charge eight times the average taxi. I wouldn't mind if it was a luxury car but the car that came for the price was a very old car with a bad suspension. Note that public taxis are not available at around 5 till 6 in the evening as that is the time when their shift changes so it is easier to use the bus system which is not too bad if you get an air conditioned service. Subway works outside the hotel on the main road means that you can expect traffic jams during peak hours. Service is an issue and the staff sometimes appear bureaucratic and unfriendly. But on the other hand, the waiters in the restaurant were brilliant.

Comfortable, with a range of eateries, clean rooms and reasonable service - and only 10-15 minutes from the airport. What's not to like about this hotel?
OK, it looks like it comes from an era when customer service was not a high priority - and some of the staff may still adhere to that old ethos - but generally this hotel is fine, at least for a few nights. The rooms are large, clean and have quite comprehensive lighting controls. Whether this is a feature in Yunnan (it appears to be!), but the beds in the hotel are remarkably hard. Not quite like sleeping on a board - but not far off. That said, sleep came quite easily! There is a decent range of in-room tea-making options: green. black and jasmine tea-bags.
The buffet breakfast was very comprehensive - with something for all tastes, Western and Chinese. We also had the buffet dinner one night. This was okay, but it proved impossible to actually get someone to serve us a beer to go with it! Another night we ate at the Korean restaurant (next door, but part of the hotel's wide range of eating options). The food was excellent - and very reasonably priced (as was the beer!). A pictorial menu, with English as well as Chinese descriptions, helped enormously.

All in all, this is a perfectly decent hotel, offering everything you are likely to need at a reasonable price.

Room Tip: As with many hotels in China "non-smoking room" seems to be more of a suggestion than a de...

I stayed for one night only. The hotel is convenient for the airport and appeared to be doing a good trade in weddings when we arrived. The rooms were of a reasonable size, and fairly clean, the beds though were very firm as indeed were the pillows, We had to leave early the following morning, but a well prepared breakfast was made available - perhaps one of the better ones we experienced in the next two weeks
