This place was like walking through a big nice park with interesting little villages scattered around. You learn a little bit about the different minorities but not much really (a few placards to read). If I had really known what it was I probably wouldn't have spent the ¥90 it costs to go in.

This place is cool. A very authentic reproduction of many of the interesting ethic minorities of China. We spent time in Bai country and the Bai bit was very realistic, it was like stepping into a real small Bai village! The park is huge and the restaurant is awful so avoid it like the plague and instead, purchase the fantastic fresh, hot noodles cooked in the little huts dotted around the museum.

I was unsure how to rate Yunnan Nationalities Village. I believe my problem was that I went there with the wrong expectation. I had hoped to lear about the 25 or 26 minorities that live in Yunnan and I didn't learn very much. It was interesting and fun but not what I would consider educational. The show was great, but it was show biz. Sorry I can't be more positive.

Yunnan Nationalities Village is not worth visiting unless you have plenty of time. It sounds a life-time travel experience but its not ! You may see this during you visit to Dianchi (Dian Lake). We went there on a rainy day,we did not dislike it either !

The Yunnan Nationalities village is a great way to preview the ethnic minorities of Yunnan.
If you were to set off on expedition in the vast landscape of Yunnan visiting all of the ethnic minorities with their various architecture, dress, customs agriculture you would need at least 2 months, in addition to traveling close to a thousand kilometers through rain forests in the south to crossing high mountain passes and steep river valleys in the North West and then heading east to the terraced rolling hills of red earth and limestone formations.
Therefore it's a nice display of what's out there to discover.

Yunnan is a border area of many cultures brought together on a crossroad of two ancient trade routes. The South / North Tea route { Laos / Tibet ) crossing the West / East (India /China) Southern Silk road.

The negatives..
Unrelated trinkets for sale and unrelated displays.

If the souvenirs for sale would be related to the ethnic people's culture it would be a class act but with an open mind it's still a good attraction.
