The hotel is located very near facilities like train station and transport hubs. The airport-city bus is just outside the hotel. (25 Yuan each way). The cheaper price quoted by most online booking are for rooms in the older tower block. Like most older hotels in China, there will be a bit of remnants of cigarettes smoke as 80 percent of Chinese still smokes. it is not overpowering unless you are hyper sensitive. You can only avoid this in top notch new hotels. We had a twin room for two nights on each occasion within a span of 8 days. The rooms are not big even by Chinese standard.

We can speak mandarin and hence language is of no issue but I guess the reception staff can manage with some simple English. Free in room wifi and two bottles of mineral water plus two apples were prepared for us. As Kunming city is undergoing the construction of the underground train line, several streets were either blocked or barricaded making the traffic much more chaotic and dusty. Overall, we are pleased with service, location and value for money.

Room Tip: Ask for a higher level floors if you do not want any street noise from the underground rail and road...

This is a large "Sheraton-like" level hotel with good basic rooms and amenities. It was good value for the price so no complaints about the hotel itself. Overall a decent stay.
We stayed here for just the night because of an overnight layover for our flight. The hotel is at least 30 mins away from the airport so perhaps not the most convenient location. Be warned that though it takes 30 mins at night with no traffic at all, it took us 1.5 hours in the middle of the morning with snarled traffic along the main roads and freeways. Another drawback (but this is likely common in China) is that our non-smoking room smelled faintly of smoke.

Eating tip: if you are hungry at night and feeling frugal, just around the left corner of the hotel is a road full of food stands where you can choose from various meat and veggie skewers and they grill it for you. Cheap and really delicious. Highly recommended. There is also a bakery where you can pick up some rolls for breakfast the next morning.

My extended family members comprised two grandparents, six middle age adults and two toddlers. We stayed in four rooms, simple and clean with basic facilities. December is cold but bearable; on one day when the mercury dropped to 1'C, the hotel had difficulty providing adequate heating to all the rooms. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Beware touts who offer ridiculously cheap packages to tourist sites. Jiu Xiang is more exciting and fun compared to Xiling stone forest.

From the time I entered to the time I left this hotel I have never felt been in a 4 stars hotel. The cleanliness is very questionable, the staff tried to cheat on me selling me a 25 yuans map which was given for free in thee street. We stayed for 2 nights and had to change of room for some reasons. The staff doesn't care about the clients and just want to make as much money on our back. The rooms are smelly and the cleanliness is questionable. It would be better to avoid the breakfast buffet.

We were in kunming with Habitat for humanity most of us stayed at a hotel next door but there were a couple that stayed in this hotel for one evening.this hotel has a good sized rooms and the service was 3star. There was a lot of people that spoke English and they were very willing to assist. The facilities are very good and there is free wifi in the lobby.

It was kind of unusual that the whole place was decked out for Christmas so early, I would not have thought that china was so into Christmas but it seems that everywhere was decorated just like in the states.

The location of the hotel had a good deal of things to see in the area and the hotel had a shuttle for the airport right out in front.

Tithe prices of the souvenirs are really expensive in the hotel. If you are looking for a good place to shop there was a flower and bird market a couple of miles away that is a must see in the area.

We stayed one night at Building B. We have also stayed at New Era Hotel for one night.

We came to Jin Jiang because it was bookable online and review said reception staff spoke English and it was near to the train station. In our booking via Asiarooms, we highlighted that we will arrive around 7pm, so the booking was still in force when we arrive.

The rooms are acceptable and we stayed in a standard twin room. Room condition was comparable to New Era Hotel (we stayed on 25th floor / Eco floor in a Business Room in New Era). Both look sedated but fully functioning.

Requested for a non-smoking floor, we smell smoke in the corridor though but not in the room, and being in China it was acceptable in the scheme of things. Room heating was okay, not too hot or stuffy in winter.

Paid deposit (RMB600) with credit card, cancelled at check out time, use the same credit card to pay for room. Worked like clock work.

Taxi fare from the airport was around RMB90, including RMB10 toll fare, and some form of city centre fee.

I will stay here again if I take the train, Kunming train station is 10 mins walking distance and the pricing of around RMB320 without breakfast.

Room Tip: Building B is the cheaper option than Building A.

We stayed at its Building B and were quite disappointed. Although it is labeled as 4 star, Days Inn or Quality Inn is in better shape.

In addition to old furnishings noted by other reviewers, our standard room is very small and bath room tiny. The worst part is their dirty towels, which should have been discarded a year ago. So bring your own towels.

We picked this place due to it is only 5 minutes walking to training station. And it's the final stop of airport shuttle (cost 20 Yuan).

It also has a strange cancellation policy. We booked online with default check in time at noon. Their system auto cancelled our reservation when we show up at 12:30 PM, which is past noon time!! So you should change your checkin time (as late as 6 pm without charge).

TIP: Building B does have a wonderful massage service at ground floor, 98 Yuan per hour. Facilities are not facy but staff did a nice job. We really enjoyed their massage. Avoid Building A massage. Same staff but charge 156 Yuan per hour.
