Good clean hotel, with fabulous views from the roof top breakfast restaurant. Once used to revolve but not anymore. Breakfast buffet very good with lots to choose from. Fair location with good choice of shops and supermarkets directly outside hotel.

Very clean, comfortable rooms if a bit down at the heels. Lovely fruit bowl awaiting in the room upon check-in. I needed some help with travel plans - the front desk staff did not speak English well but the staff at the Business Services room did speak English and they were incredibly helpful, even made phone calls for me and translated for me. Internet was speedy. This is a bit of an oasis of calm in the busy city of Kunming. The hotel is about a 10-15 minute cab ride from the airport.

Reasonable rooms although very noisy till late at night with sound of (much needed) subway system being built outside. Not sure how long that will last. Very close to railway station so excellent for connections. Staff OK and English level fine. Breakfast very over-priced - charging same amount for small kids as adults and inedible food in their (non) revolving restaurant. Awful quality food and drinks.

The Kunming Jinjiang is a decent business hotel with a spacious lobby, adequate room facilities and restaurants. The housekeeping staff are especially efficient. The room interior is clean and fully equipped with tea/coffee making utensils, bottled mineral water and a mini fridge (empty). As typical for China hotels that I have been to, the mattress is quite hard but it feels better on the second night onwards though. Free cabled LAN internet service is provided in the room. For WiFi, you need to go to the 2nd or 3rd floor where the ballroom and conference rooms are. The TV channels provided are acceptable. Breakfast and other meals can be had at the revolving restaurant (that never seem to revolve when I was there) on the 23rd floor. The breakfast buffet fare is a mix of chinese and western (They dont serve baked beans though!) Overall, the hotel is a nice place to sleep and work in (for meetings, conferences etc) but apart from that, be prepared for a little bit of chaos outside the hotel lobby. It is situated about 3-4 mins walk to the Kun Ming Zhan railway station. The thoroughfare outside the hotel is busy and noisy with commuters walking to the rail-station, street peddlers, the usual noisy and smoky traffic, an ongoing subway construction, and on top of that, muddy and uneven pavements. There are shops selling jade, tea, fruits, and local souvenirs around hotel but it is better if you walk out towards the railway station and then cross the road to the left at the first junction. Near this junction there is a pedestrian only shopping lane, where you can find local handicrafts and interesting local stuffs. If you have had enough of Chinese food, there is a McDonalds (spelled in Chinese only) about 15 minutes walk from the hotel. From the lobby, take right. Turn left at the first junction, and walk for about 600-800m, and you won't miss the golden arches on your right.
An earlier reviewer mentioned that the airport is 5km away from this hotel. That was refering to the OLD airport. The brand new airport (opened end June 2012) is about 35-40 km away, taking close to one hour by cab.
If you are staying in for meetings, conference etc, this is a decent hotel but for tourists or if you are on holiday, I suggest looking for hotels at more convenient and peaceful locations.

Room tip: Stay on the upper floors for less noise. The power source outlets in the room are the universal type thus you need not use adapters. There are no English information pamphlets for tourist sites and map of Kunming. Be prepared with these information if you don't have a local guide.

Located very close to the railway station and a 10 minute ($ 2 cabride) from the airport, on a main street lined with shops and restaurants. The only problem in the area is the ongoing metro railway construction which makes the air dusty and the streets difficult to walk in.
Ths staff, with the exception of the reception staff are very friendly, though barely anyone speaks any English. The receptionists speak English but are unfriendly. During my stay, I was the only foreigner who was alone. The rest were all part of large tour groups. So I had a very hard time communicating with the staff.
The room itself was nice and clean and well appointed. There was free internet (both DSL and Wi-Fi). The A/C and showers worked well. They even had the foresight to keep toothbrushes, toothpaste, combs, slippers, etc. Fresh fruit was served for free. My room had no view and the TV had very few channels.
The lobby area is nice to sit and relax and has a snack bar and a bar. The breakfast buffet was awesome and the restaurant had killer views of the whole city. The breakfast included traditional Chinese as well as Western style food, including an omelette station.
Thye room cost me under $ 50 per night and at that price it was a great bargain. Would go back.

Room tip: Try to get a room in the taller tower with a view.
