I have been in Lost garden during Chinese New Year with my famil and a friend.
it is located just few minutes walk from the Cuihu Lake, but enough far from the mainroad which make it very quite.
There different sizes of rooms deorated in a very original way.The owner collects wood from all around countryside and reuse it to make tables chairs or other decoration elements.on the top a very simple and nice terrace.
Don't expect luxury but a genuine "Kunming style" guesthouse with a very kind and smiling staff.
To not be missed:in the evening they cook Pizza in their wood oven and it tastes delicious!

Room Tip: The room on the top has a view on the terrace, very nice (it may be a little noisy in the evening).

Next to the lake, excellent pizza and nice atmosphere. What i was looking for to do for readings and writings..

The expresso is the best in town, and the prices at the bar are relatively cheap.

Try the home made muesli with toasted granolla and yoghurt.

It has a lovely roof terrace, the food is good and the girls in reception helpful (some can speak English but others don't understand anything). The room was comfortable and quiet, at least at night since we were out all day. We could leave our luggage there when we traveled to another small town for a few days. Clean and pleasant. It's within walking distance from the small lake (beautiful at night with a most spectacular water show) and all other places of interest. Recommendable.

Room Tip: I suppose all rooms are equally good but we slept in one of the two on the roof terrace

We only stayed here for one night at the end of a fairly taxing, action packed travel expedition. We'd spent the majority of our time in frigid mountainous region of Yunnan, where rooms weren't heated and hot water wasn't guaranteed. For out last evening in the province, we decided to splash out and have a night of comfort. We made the right choice.

Apart from a room mix up, which wasn't handled by the staff so well (she kicked the current inhabitants out and into a new room at 8am without explaining properly what had happened), our stay was fabulous. We had a double room with heated floors, which kept the room at a perfect temperature. The food served was of a high quality and much better that what most hostel/guesthouse kitchens churn out. We didn't really have any complaints. The guesthouse has a rather huge resident dog, which is something of a gentle giant, and goes by the name 豆豆 – dou dou (I think). The location was good. Right by a lovely park and the university area. We hired bikes from a mountain bike shop (Kunming is hilly, unlike most Chinese cities) around the corner and spent our day cycling about the city.

All in all, I'd highly recommend this guesthouse. If I return to Kunming in the future, I will certainly stay here again.

I know Kunming very well, because lived there for 4 years. There was always a lack of cosy homestay-style of hotels. This place is just like that. Small, great location, personal touch and cheap .... It exists for just 2 years and it's just book by their website or telephone. Great price / quality.

Room Tip: Depends on budget. Let you inform by the staff
