“Great Value-Great Position”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 27, 2013

We stayed 3 nights in Studio Room in April 2013.
Hotel is located close to all city attractions in quiet back street and close to Police Station.
Room had plenty of space with all ususal Studio amentities, bathroom on small side. Plenty of convience stores opposite and also close to Airport bus service, although taxis in China are pretty great value.
All staff friendly with no language problems, if a particular staff is not fluent in English they find one who is.
Breakfast was a bit of a letdown, you have 2 options-Western Breakfast on 6th floor lounge which consists of sweet bun, fruit, yogurt, juice and egg available to be boiled plus coffee. Combined Asian/Western on ground floor adjacent restaurant with egg counter and other options.
We found neither appealing with the latter a bit on the fatty side.
However the adjacent restaurant (entrance can be made from foyer) at night trades as Han's Kitchen and we found the food and service great.
Bed was hard but this appears the normal in a lot of China
Overall very good value hotel and as many have noted in excellant position, would stay again.

Room Tip: Xian has much more then the Warriors and is worth at least 2 days probably more. We used a private...

Dear Soapy49, Thank you for your review! We are glad you enjoyed our rooms and the friendly staff, As you rightly pointed out, there is so much more to see in Xi'an apart from the terracotta warriors, and wonderful attractions such as the ancient city wall and the bustling muslim quarter are just 5 minutes walk from our residence. We apologize for the breakfast and will work with our vendor to improve the breakfast offerings and hope to offer you an improved breakfast on your next visit here.

Citadines is probably the most central location for-airport shuttles(Melody Hotel),subway, restaurants, buses and other top Xian attractions. The front desk staff JENNY AND JULIE in particular are very helpful for planning activities and giving directions in chinese.South Wall bicycling,Huashan Mountain,Luoyang Longmen,Terracotta Warriors were a few of our activities.
The rooms are large with small kitchens and room dividers.Beds are a little hard, yet adding comforters helps.Breakfast is not very good and i would advise going elsewhere. The south facing rooms on the higher floors have nice views.
The Bell and Drum Tower ,Muslim Street are within a 10 minute walk,15 minutes to the subway (remember to enter and exit at the welcome to Xian sign from the subway). The subway is in english and chinese. The subway does not accept 1 yuan notes ,so remember to get 1 yuan coins. If using the bullet train take the subway to the last northern stop.Use of the underpasses in town are also recommended.

Room Tip: Higher floor south facing

We (2 couples) stayed in Citadines Central hotel for 3 nights during our last trip to China. Before I booked this hotel, I read many reviews from tripadvisor and finally decided on this hotel. It was a good choice as I was quite sceptical about the reviews given. Having stayed for 3 days, how I wished I have stayed longer. The reception staff were helpful, friendly but of course we could communicate both in English and Mandarin.

The room was big, and the designs quite modern - the hotel design itself was quite good looking from the interior. They have authorized user for lift which I found very safe.

The location is very good - about 20 minutes walk to the Bell Tower, Drum Tower and the Muslim streets. It was a fun day for us walking and eating at the Muslim streets where they sold many types of food. Many big shopping centres could be found along the main street

I would highly recommend my friends to stay in this hotel as it is off the main street, not so noisy and yet very comfortable , clean , modern and good value for money.

Dear Lydia T, thank you so much for having faith in us and staying here again on your return trip to China, there is nothing we appreciate more than our return guests, especially those who recommend us to their friends! We are really glad that you enjoyed your stay here, and as you rightly pointed out security is one of our priorities hence the requirement of keycard access simply to activate the elevator. We hope you will make another tirp to China soon and bring your friends along as well. Looking forward to your next trip!

This hotel is in a fantastic location and one can easily walk to the Bell Tower, Drum Tower as well as the Muslim quarters. USe the underpass which is excellent for getting across to the other side of a busy main road.Taking the Shuttle bus to the airport is a breeze.

There are ample restaurants and shopping places in the area. Also opposite convenience stores where you can buy water, drinks and snacks .
We had no problem with the double studio room and the set up of the room is adequate. A sliding TV table attached to the wall together with the partition can give options for privacy. Place is clean and has adequate kitchen facilities . Value for money !

Booked 2 studio units for an overnight stay for four of us (2 couples) and we really got a good deal from their website - around RMB 405 with free breakfast for one person each room (additional bfast was RMB 35 per person).

Location - unbeatable - cross the street (by taking the pedestrian underpass) and you're right smack staring at the Drum Tower (picturesque when it's lighted at night). Behind the tower is the happening Muslim Quarter - street market, souvenirs, food, drinks etc... Basically, less than 10 minute walk from your hotel room.

Room - it's a serviced apartment so it's more spacious than a regular hotel room. Bathroom is smaller but there's more leg room as there is a "living area" and a divider that gives the "bed room" some privacy. Wifi is free and reliable as well.

Breakfast - quite forgettable actually. Wait staff were not too keen on refilling missing breakfast items. For a country known for its food, the breakfast at this hotel was totally dismal. Try looking for breakfast somewhere else.

Etc - check-in/check-out was fine (staff were able to speak/understand English), but to my horror, they charge guests for getting the laundry bags! Quite surprising actually.

Otherwise, this hotel is definitely a recommended option for a hotel in Xi'an for its location, room amenities, and over-all price.

Dear cmpfigueroa, thank you for your review! As you have commented, location and value for money are two key reasons why many travellers enjoy staying with Citadines Central Xi'an. As the laundry bags in the rooms are made of quality linen, guests are welcome to take them when they check out but at a very resonable price. We apologize for the buffet breakfast and will relay to the comments to our operator and coordinate the improvements with them. Thank you for your feedback and we look forward to welcoming you again!

After a lovely stay at the Tang Dynasty Art Garden Hotel outside the city walls, I decided to move in town and found the Citadines Central Xi'an online at a very reasonable rate. In contrast to the highly atmospheric stay at Tang, the Citadines offered a convenient, contemporary retreat.

The location is fantastic: just a block from the Drum Tower and Bell Tower and metro station, right around the corner from the airport shuttle bus, a couple of blocks from the Muslim quarter going north, and "bar street" (aka Defu Lane) going south. The fact that it is just off the major avenue meant that it was quieter. As other reviewers noted, be sure to ask for a higher floor (7 and above).

My studio apartment was well designed, spacious, light and airy. Although the heat/air was a bit wacky, the minfridge, WiFi and shower were great. The furniture is IKEA-esque but functional and comfortable. Even with a kitchenette provided, my rate included breakfast. I made brunch out of the full hot buffet downstairs at the adjoining restaurant. You could also go to the 6th floor lounge for continental breakfast to go. Also, free (mediocre) coffee throughout the day on the 6th floor if you don't want to go to the two Starbucks a couple of blocks away.

Last, but not least, the front desk people spoke English and were really helpful! (Not so with the tour desk.) Tip: if looking for a place or item, ask them to write it down in Chinese characters so that you can actually find it if asking a local on the street by just sign/body language. Very little English spoken in Xi'an.

Overall, a very good and comfortable stay at the Citadines.

Room Tip: 7th floor and above.

Great central city place to stay whilst visiting Xi-an and surrounding areas. Good place to stay with families as you have separate rooms, but are all in the same suite / apartment - hooray!
We ate breakfast in the hotel which was good, but mainly we ate out - in the Muslim Quarter where the food is great. Both in the restaurants and also the street food was fantastic!

Oh - another brill thing to do in Xi'an (apart from the obvious Terracotta Warriors) is to cycle along the city walls. Great fun.
