Reviewed September 22, 2012

Extremely well located, 3 minutes walking from Bell Tower and subway station.
There is a shuttle bus from airport that stops at Melody Hotel, just in the corner of Citadines Central, 1 min walking.
There are some grocery stores in front of hotel and lots of shopping malls at other side of street.
Hotel have laundromat and a very good breakfast.
Staff is very helpfull, always with a smile.

Check-in was easy, had no documentation other than my passport, and was checked-in within minutes. The bell boy then took my bags to my room, showed me how everything worked and departed. A/C works well, the kitchen is well equipped, with pots/pans/microwave/mini-fridge with freezer. Good idea having the separator between the lounge area and the bed room. Good bathroom. Very spacious. Soft bed (by Chinese standards). The roof top area is lovely, the gym is a little lacking.

Location was an excellent base to explore Xi'an from. Walmart is not far away, the same can be said for Vanguard, KFC, McDonald's, Pizza Hut, Starbucks, Watsons etc.

After staying in the Titan Caoyang Business Hotel for 2 weeks, this was certainly a breath of fresh air. I would stay here again, and would now stay in any Citadines I come across.

Stayed here for 3 nights. The location near the Bell and Drum towers is excellent for sights in Xi'an.

The apartment-style rooms are large and aim for a modern style. They are nice but starting to look a little worn. The AC unit was so noisy, however, that I had to turn it off in the middle of the night.

There is a rooftop terrace but the seating up there could be more comfortable.

One of the few places in China that had laundry facilities. But they do not come cheap: 20 RMB for a wash and same again for the dryer (one pass was not enough for our load).

Breakfast is good: there is some variety of Western and Chinese options.

Room Tip: At present they are building to the south (noise) so better go for the north side.

We normally try and stay in smaller hotels/B&B’s, however this proved a bit of a challenge in Xian, so we opted for Citadines, and enjoyed it!

LOCATION: The hotel is in a very central location, an easy walk to the Muslim quarter and the Drum Tower, as well as large local shopping malls.

TYPE OF ROOM: Our room was a Studio room, and to our surprise was very large.
It had a small kitchenette, bathroom, sitting area (lounge) and bedroom which could be screened off.
We were located on the top floor, room 1212. The air con worked well and was very quiet. Overall our room was very quiet.

BATHROOM/SHOWER: The bathroom offered a bath tub with shower over head, and toilet. Just outside the door of the bathroom was another small area, which had the hand basin and bathroom amenities.
The water pressure was ok.

CLEANLINESS: The room was very clean and tidy, although starting to show signs of wear.

CLOSET SPACE: There was plenty of closet space and general space for storing bags/cases.

TV/INTERNET: There was a TV in the room which could be moved along the wall depending on if you wanted to view it from the bedroom or from the sitting area.
Wi-Fi in the room worked well, and was also offered in the lobby and breakfast area.

SERVICE: Staff were quite busy when we arrived, and we were hurried through check in.
Check out staff were a little friendlier.
Breakfast staff were pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was a buffet style of Western and Chinese dishes, basic, but ok.

OVERALL: Citadines is in a very central location, and is good value. I would recommend this hotel for those wanting to be close to the Muslim Quarter.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor.

Stayed in Citadines for 4 nights in Jan to visit the terra-cotta warriors. The hotel/apartments are a stone's throw away form the train station & is walking distance to the Muslim Qurters, Bell Tower, Drum Tower and City Wall.

Room is spotlessly clean with working AC/heating, bathrooms & hot water. Full apartment facilities with stove & cutlery is great if you choose to eat in or pack food back to eat.

Bathrooms are clean too. No view to speak of. Didn't really make use of the front desk as they were more interested in talking among themselves. Walls were slightly thin and the doors slam and reverberate across rooms.

Good place to stay on a budget & location is perfect.

The location was superb, right near the heart of old Xi'an and a stone's throw fom the Moslem quarter and night market. The rooms were perfectly adequate but no more with quite flimsy fittings, so if you are heavy handed, be gentle! The apart'hotel concept is great for families as we could spread out and cater for ourselves when we wished to. The service in the restaurant was frankly comical as the local staff struggled to meet the (to them) unusual demands of the largely foreign guests. The front desk were very competent and were particularly good at organising transport / tours. All in all, I enjoyed my stay because our needs were met at a very reasonable price and we were well looked after.

Room Tip: Worth checking the rooms before taking them on - bits are liable to come off so check its all there!
