We had to change our arrangements due to train tickets and that was available on short notice. We booked triple , and on arrival (8 AM !) we were allocated in a huge suite on the 3rd floor. The hotel shares services with Sofitel and we used the gym and pool there , as well as had two dinners in the bufet restaurant. All were top notch. The staff is attentive and speaks good english. Even though the rooms show wear and tear here and there - i think it is good value for money , while in Xi'an . Location is also good and convenient.

I stayed for 2 nights to see the Terracotta warriors. The hotel is located alongside two mainstream hotels. So it was a bit of a maze to find the Mercure but lucky we were on a tour and so the driver knew where it was.

The check in was quick and the staff were friendly and were very fluent in English. The room was spacious with 2 separate rooms: living room and bedroom connecting with the bathroom. It also had two tvs in each room. The beds was comfy and the pillows gave good support.

It was clean, and the service was exceptional. Our heater made this loud noise when turned on. I called housekeeping to fix it. Unfortunately, they never came so I rang again. It took them a while to come but the management of housekeeping was good and rang us to make sure the repairmen came. They eventually came to fix it.

We ran out of tissue paper and rang housekeeping for some more. We received it and the management of housekeeping gave a courtesy call to check whether we were happy and had the tissue paper. This courtesy call was also given when I ordered room service.

The breakfast was great, had a wide selection of easter and western food. I especially like the breadrolls and fruit.

It is located near the city centre about 15 minutes walk. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.

We arrived early off the train from Beijing and were checked in to a room straight away and managed to have breakfast before the end of the buffet service at 10:30. The room was clean, smart and modern with the unusual bathroom feature as already noted in other reviews. What's the purpose of the glass panel ? The mind boggles. All the staff we dealt with were pleasant and only too willing to help. It is central, but since Xi'an is large I wouldn't expect it to be close to everywhere ! It is convenient to the railway station however. For the price we paid this was an excellent hotel. The only downside would be the lack of free wifi or a PC to use in reception (as we found at the Novotel in Beijing).

Excellent hotel with superb bathroom.
spacious rooms with tea and coffee facilities.
Lovely towels linen and all ,comforts.
Super breakfast.
Reasonably conveniently located for walking in main shopping area and Muslim quarter but quite far from the city walls.

We (3 friends) stayed in September 2009. We arrived early in the morning as the train gets in very early. We were able to get into our rooms early and in fact we were upgraded to suites which was a lovely suprise, especially after being on the overnight train. The staff were excellent and couldn't do enough for you. Their english is also excellent. The hotel is located in a lovely hotel compound and is well located and walking distance to the inner city sights eg. The Mosque and Bell and Drum Towers and City Walls. We were very impressed with the breakfast buffet. All in all we very much enjoyed our night here and would absolutely recommend it to anyone wanting a little extra comfort while in Xian.
