Weather was perfect and the best part was the double cycling of the 14kms stretch covering north, south, east and west gates .. Thouroughly enjoyed along with entire family

We went here in the late afternoon, my husband and I walked the wall and enjoyed the city views. Our daughter and her husband rented bikes to tour the wall. Both were enjoyable, although the cobbled walkway made for a sometimes bumpy bike ride, and my daughter complained her hands were sore the next day.

The views from the wall are insightful - the old and the new. There are plenty of bikes and tandems for hire or you can take the electric cart, but you would miss most everything there is to see.
The southern exit is within walking distance to both the Drum and Bell Towers and the Muslim quarter.

It is worth taking the time and effort to at least walk half the wall. There are bikes and tandems for hire but it's easy to walk.
The southern wall has been renovated, with some impressive battlements along it, but the rest if the wall is still in pretty good shape despite its age.
If you exit at the South gate you can then walk to both the Bell and Drum Towers.

One of the best features of 16 days in China . A grand spectacle you could walk along and feel the history all around you.
