“A well-preserved/re-constructed monument”
Reviewed November 29, 2013

The sheer length of the wall is impressive, and you can get the feel of what life in China must have been like in the early imperial years of over two-thousand years ago.

“Beautiful old wall - an insight into Old China”
Reviewed November 29, 2013

Other than the Great Wall, this we were told is one of the only ancient walls left in China.
We enjoyed a lovely walk and a bike ride and views from the top especially at night when the wall and the pagodas built on top of the wall are all lit up.

Behind the main entrance to the wall is a market place recreated in the Ming Era style which is very interesting to explore. With the wall, the cobbled street, chinese style curved rooves and red lanterns you could be transported thousands of years back.

The city walls were impressive - granted not on the same scale as the Great Wall, but still fascinating. It was interesting to see the old vs. modern homes next to each other from the wall's vantage point.

“An Easy 13 Kilometre Bike Ride”
Reviewed November 26, 2013

This was an unexpected addition to our trip. The day was overcast and cold, but it was perfect weather for bike riding. All flat, cobblestone foundation path, with the opportunity to look down into the real world of a chinese city. The bikes were easy to handle and you just follow the wall. Lots of photo opportunities.....you are given one hour and forty minutes to ride the circuit. Very do-able

the xi an city wall originally was built in tang dynasty which is about 1300 years ago.but the old wall was samller /narrow and not wide enough .
it was rebuilt in ming dynasty which is about 600 years ago .it is now the only intact city wall left in china .it is about 16to 18meters wide from bottom .and 12 to 14 meters wide from top .whole city wall is 13.7 km long .
it is amazing wall .especially cycling on the wall is one of top ten interesting things to do in china .
you can rent a single or bouble bike or wall .it cost 40 yuan per person .can be finished about one hours .also can see the beautiful moat from top .many watch towers still left on the wall .
there are three towers for each gate .like gate tower .arrow tower .and main tower .
people can do different types exercise on the wall .like walking .cycling .or explore the whole wall by golf car .the night view of the wall even more better .the whole city wall will light up .looks very shinging and beautiful .
