the xi an city wall originally was built in tang dynasty which is about 1300 years ago.but the old wall was samller /narrow and not wide enough .
it was rebuilt in ming dynasty which is about 600 years ago .it is now the only intact city wall left in china .it is about 16to 18meters wide from bottom .and 12 to 14 meters wide from top .whole city wall is 13.7 km long .
it is amazing wall .especially cycling on the wall is one of top ten interesting things to do in china .
you can rent a single or bouble bike or wall .it cost 40 yuan per person .can be finished about one hours .also can see the beautiful moat from top .many watch towers still left on the wall .
there are three towers for each gate .like gate tower .arrow tower .and main tower .
people can do different types exercise on the wall .like walking .cycling .or explore the whole wall by golf car .the night view of the wall even more better .the whole city wall will light up .looks very shinging and beautiful .
do not miss it when you come to xi an

Get to the top of the Xi'an City wall and rent a bike for the 20 kilometer (13 mile) ride. Flat except for a few slight inclines. Stay out of the bums and avoid the stairs. It is great during the day but an evening ride is fantastic.

Taken there while on a tour. This is massive, don't know how long. When up there you can see over the city, from its different angles. Unlike the Great wall of China, you can walk about easily as it is quite wide, but watch out for the cyclists. Very quiet area to stroll in and take in the surroundings.

What fun to cycle around the city on top of the wall. The students and I had loads of fun racing each other around the city. The wall was sometimes bumpy but nothing too difficult. Any person who has ridden before would enjoy this experience.

We biked for 40 min and yet did not go thru half of the wall. It was dark when we went there, and still felt amazing!
