“Beautiful Memory”
Reviewed November 11, 2012

Worth a early get up and bicycling around the ancient wall. Experience the syncretic morden and historic view with family. It might also enjoyable to spend a whole day walking around the wall, stop at interesting places, and keep going. Tips for bicycling: prepare yourself with thick pants to protect your bottom!

“Worth a cycle”
Reviewed November 10, 2012

Hire a bike on the wall - a good way to circumnavigate the city!
A leisurely trip round the wall will take the full 100 minutes.

“Impressive walls, allow plenty of time for visit”
Reviewed November 10, 2012

The city walls are well-preserved (or restored). Interesting place. If you like cycling, allow time, because you can hire bikes and cycle along the top, all the way round! Bike hire place near the museum and book shop, where the welcome ceremony takes place.

“Lovely place for a walk”
Reviewed November 9, 2012

We had a beautiful early morning walk along part of the wall. Was not busy at the time so it was great to appreciate the sheer size and magnificence of this structure.

We swung by Walmart onthe way and had a big picnic onthe wall. There are plenty benches around and constantly changing scenery to enjoy. It was 40y each to enter and the bike rental was the same plus 100y each deposit so make sure you have enough on you, though there is a bank near by. We didn't make it round the wall in100 minutes, we had such fun taking photos and chatting to others,it is incredibly photogenic! The bikes lack suspension and the wall is full of holes so sitting off the seat was necessary. As we walked the rest we came across children doing an acrobatic show. It was a Sunday so perhaps they are in a weekend club, either way they were sensational. There were young boys back flipping all over the place and making wonderful human pyramid shapes, then two boys in a slapstick juggling show and finally a group of girls with diabalos. I dont know if this is a regular thing but it really was exceptional, about 4-5pm on Sunday. You could spend all day on the wall so long as you bring food in with you. Superb, a must-do activity in Xi'an.
