Very late with this review. Second hotel in our tour. First impressions, in heart of the city but no noise once the windows were shut, I was on the 18th floor I think. Spacious, clean room with all normal amenties, firm bed and pillows and no spare quilt to use to lay over the bed to ease the firmness but I managed to sleep on it but not comfortable for me. English TV news channel. Toiletries, green tea, kettle, no safe in this hotel, you have to speak with receptionist for a safety locker. Breakfast first day was enjoyable the food was of a better quality and more tasty in this hotel and different options, plus a chef cooking eggs fresh, however you wanted them, omelettes, fried eggs etc. Second day breakfast was cold, somone had left the lids open on all the hot food the burner underneath was a waste of time as all the heat was escaping. I couldn't eat it, I had to have toast which was also very difficult as the butter and bread had been taken straight out of the freezer and was still frozen so this task took a lot longer to do. The waiting staff at breakfast were over zealous when it came to clearing the table the minute you've moved out of your chair, so if you were going to fetch another item to eat, you'd come back and your cutlery, coffee and anything else you had left were gone, never to be seen again. Which is a bit frustrating as you then have to ask to get cutlery, coffee etc back in place to continue enjoying your breakfast. Then your food was getting cold whilst your waiting for replacement cutlery but at least they weren't slow and they were very pleasant and always smiling. You soon learned to let the staff know you were coming back to the table or ask someone near you to guard your cuppa for you.

Lots of local shops outside the hotel, don't about not speaking english, they produce the faithful calculater to let you know how much the item you've got costs. They manage to do business no matter what language you speak brought some tasty fruit from one local shop.

All in all a satifactory hotel but not the most comfortable stay for me and breakfast was cold on our second morning.

We stayed at this hotel at the end of December as part of our tour with On The Go. The hotel was comfortable with good amenities, however it wasn't in the greatest location. At night the area is so quiet, no one is around really, so you have to take the subway slightly more central so be able to do anything. We were here for New Year's Eve and really struggled to find something to do. Other than that, great selection of food at breakfast, we were the only Westerners in the hotel at one point and they laid on an entire breakfast just for us which was lovely. Friendly staff, can't complain.

This was the 2nd hotel our tour group stayed at as part of a three centre tour to China. Room was excellent we stayed here two nights. We stayed in November and the foyer and ground floor restaurant were not very warm. The service was excellent. We arrived to Xi'an from the overnight sleeper train from Beijing and breakfast was served for our group and all our rooms were ready for a much needed rest and hot shower.

Room Tip: Upper floors of the hotel appear to have been recently renovated, people on our tour who were on a l...

I stayed at the Wan Nian Grand Hotel for 2 nights as part of a group tour. It is in a good location with a short walking distance to shops and restaurants. The hotel has a big foyer with free Wifi available. The rooms were spacious and clean. I had a King size bed which was not so firm. The pillows however are a bit flat which I am not used to. Luckily I had an extra 2 available. There is no mini bar in fridge but complimentary water is provided. There were a few english speaking TV channels available. Breakfast room was quite big. Food was OK. Chef can make omelettes with a selection of added ingredients to choose from. Some food a little strange like hot chips (although were cold) served. Overall it was a pleasant place to stay for a short trip

Excellent hotel with the best services. The furnishing are dated but what you get in service makes up for it. I was there with a tour group. Arrived at hotel early morning after being on sleeper train and was greeted by attendant as soon as walk in hotel. We were able to have hot breakfast and our room was made available. After coming back from seeing sights rooms had been clean again. Very pleasant staff.

This was the 3rd Hotel we stayed at while doing the Chinese Checkers Tour by On the Go Tours. We stayed here for 2 nights. Breakfast was lacking as there wasn't much to choose from. The room had mosquitoes so don't forget to pack repellant. The mini fridge was not cold and the Air-con also had problems. The location of the hotel was not that bad with decent shops and restaurants in walking distance. Rooms were not cleaned well at all. We found some food on the carpet when we arrived and it remained there the entire time. The Hotel also has free WiFi in the lobby.

Wain nan Hotel - Xi'an
1. Rooms : clean. Small double bed, STD size room, air-con partially operational. N0 minibar supplies, English TV channels advertised but ended up being blue screens.  Bit of hanging space in cupboard, no safe.
2. Beds: "firm",  clean, plenty of pillows. Sheets only changed on request.
3. Bathroom: clean, shower in bath, Towels ok changed on request. Plenty oh hot water. One roll of toilet paper.
4. Reception: pleasant and helpful. Pretty efficient.
5. Breakfast:  ok but nothing exciting.
6. Restaurant: there are some interesting restaurants just down the road from the hotel that are worth trying. Their prices are a welcome change and they provide  plenty to eat with bubbly staff.
7. Money: ATM located 50m from the hotel.
8. English: not many of the staff can understand English.
