We were trouped through many markets by our tour company that feasted on tourists, but we visited this market on an optional excursion and it was definitely a treat as it was not a tourist attraction. The markets purpose was to serve the people of Xi'an. It might have been mundane in daylight but in the evening , it was lit up like Christmas her in the U.S. It was packed with people but yet the people were courteous. Every kind of shop could be found in the market, but most interesting was the groceries. All kinds of Chinese food, and much more sanitary looking that we had seen in some of the tourist traps.
