“Worth the visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2013

It is difficult to give a review of this museum as it has many areas and rooms to visit. The pottery figures and the large bronzes are very interesting . There is a huge bronze wine container which tells me that wine was an important part of their lives. There is a jade gallery which was interesting because os the different kinds of jade.

“Shaanxi is the correct spelling. There are two provinces. The other one is Shanxi.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2013

This museum has a nice collection of artifacts found in Shaanxi Provence. Since this was the capitol of ancient China for over 1000 years, there is a lot of history here. The best thing here is the collection of terra cotta warriors. You can see them up close and not behind glass. It is a great photo op. With a foreign passport the ticket is free, but you still must get in line to get a ticket. There is little English, so a guide is quite helpful. Plan on 1-2 hours.

Lots to see at this museum, need a good few hours here. If I remember correctly, there seemed to be quite a queue to get tickets but someone kindly told us that we were queuing behind a queue for tour groups so be careful where you queue! Also, apparently they give out a certain amount of free tickets so get there early haha but its not expensive anyway but who doesn't love a freebie!

“Magnificent Museum!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2013

This is a really sound place. We only had a couple of hours there but the sheer volume of artefacts, well laid out and in chronological order, merits at least a full day's viewing.
The chinese seem rightly very proud of their long history and this museum demonstrates this! It is packed with chinese punters and sharp elbows are required when attempting to view some of the displays! However, it is well worth the effort and I loved it!

“See history in front of your eyes”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2013

This is a popular museum for Xi'an locals, China tourists and foreign tourists alike.

I enjoyed the viewing bronze wine vessels throughout the various dynasties - it just goes to prove that good taste can transcend to centuries to todays wine enthusiasts.

There are a number of Terracotta Warriors on display - see up close was amazing.

Well worth a visit.

The only downside was the modern day art room, the attendant offered coffee and cool drinks for sale, plus a place to sit down. The disappointment was that as soon as you walked in the attendant started to hard sell to buy art created by local artists. It spoilt a nice visit for me
