Went to see this with a few friends while in X'ian, and was pretty disappointed. The warriors are hyped up to be something that shouldn't be missed, and people often have a built up view of what they'll be like (guilty). In reality, there's only a few hundred on display, and an awful lot of the pits are empty or full of broken terra-cotta. Its still essentially an active archaeological dig sight.
Considering how much it costs to enter, there's actually not that much to see. We didn't have a guide, which might have affected our opinion, but this is something you go to see, just to say you've seen it. Certainly wouldn't go again.

Fantastic experience. Although lot of people visited on the day we visited it was very well organized for visitors easy to move around. I will strongly recommend to go with tour guide.

It's a long drive there and what I've seen, though impressive, made me think a lot about what the Chinese government is actually selling you. This is an overall impression, not just here.

The most visited place in Xi'An shouldn't be missed. Go to the train station, catch a bus number 5 (306) and you are on your way... If you don't like the long line ... switch to 914 or 915 (green) buses which will take you to the same place for about $1 more. Entry to the site and the Museum is far from the bus station, but that is how is organized - to pass through all the shops - both ways!

I visited the sight 6 times... and every time was worth seeing it. There is always something happening on the excavation site, and new restored soldiers are added daily. Toilets are available and they are clean for the Chinese standards, cafe is nothing special but enough for refreshments. Clean and well organized museum, but sometimes too many people would not allow you to take good photos... constant stream of visitors!

Guides are available and just half the price they offered for their services... don't worry about the reaction! If you decide to buy a guide book, wait until the end, and go to the book store which is part of the museum exit - where you can get good discounts - don't buy anything from the street sellers! Remember where the bus left you, that is the place where you would be picked up on your way back to Xi'An.

You can have a good meal in those little restaurants around the bus stop if you like noodles... everything else is hardly worth trying.

Of course I enjoyed seeing the Terracotta Army, it is certainly a must-see in Xi'an and I was very surprised at how large it actually is. Plenty of great photo opportunities, just make sure to avoid the farmer photo tourist trap (don't pay 200 for a guidebook when you can get it for 100) and I wasn't keen on the locals selling cat and dog skins! I would also advise not making the trip in the snow as I did as it is near lethal, but I still counted it as worth it!
