This hotel was booked for us by our private tour guide and highly recommended, but after reading many reviews and complaints of poor staff in general from all hotels in Xian, I had mixed expectations.

Our flight arrived late and we ended up checking in after mid-night, but when we arrived, the manager greeted us personally and was very friendly, professional and considerate. He had already finished for the day and was in causal clothing, but had come back just to make sure that we were well taken care of by his night staff.

In our room, since they knew we were arriving late, they had turned the beds down and laid out slippers for us, which was very considerate. They also had fresh apples for us on the table.

The room is as expected for Shangri-La, and the hotel in clean and well kept, but just a little on the old side compared to all the brand new hotels in other parts of China. But the excellent management and staff more than make up for this.

The breakfast was also very good, with a mix of western and Chinese food and fresh made- to-order dumplings. Also a lot of fresh fruit, and everything was re-filled quite often.

Good hotel in Xian and since stayed in past immediately choose for second stay. Hotel staff very helpful and always smiling. When I wanted to visit to the Bell Tower area I requested to the hotel staff to arrange for a taxi in turn they suggested to take metro and indeed metro was the best option in terms of time since during evening there is heavy traffic and we would have lost most of our time in traffic. Due to prompt suggestion and help from hotel staff we were able to travel Xian metro as well able to enjoy shopping in Bell Tower area.

Went to Xi'an to visit friends of our adopted daughter. Arrived at 2am with a barely-made Expedia reservation that wasn't in their system yet. They treated us like royalty. Great place to stay! We would recommend it without hesitation.

I have met a travelling tour (large) group from India, They made too much noise and spoke too loudly.

It not fit the this hotel style.

Some india tourists upgrade to 9th floor and made noise.

Stayed in this hotel for 2 nights in april. The room is of decent size with 2 double beds. The beds were comfortable and sleep was good.
The bathroom was a bit dated and the toilet seat was very old and worn. The floors were carpeted but had many stains, best to use the paper slippers which were provided. There is no WiFi in the rooms and you have to go to the lobby to get a connection. The service was good from the staff. The morning buffet breakfast was nothing to talk about, the cooks did not start serving the omlet station until around 7 am even if the restaurant opened at 6am. This is a 3 star hotel at best !! Very close to the City Wall and main town. This is a one time stay for me, I'm sure there are better hotels for the same or owed price in Xian.

We were part of a group so we naturally do the old wing with good size rooms and needing an upgrade. I would rank this hotel ans a good 4 star but not as a 5. The ground floor are is excellent and the breakfast area despite some previous reviews was well above average. A pleasant stay.
