“Good location”
Reviewed July 4, 2012

The hotel is located inside the walls and very close to the center of the downtown area. Everything was clean throughout the hotel. The room and bathroom were a good size. The staff was friendly. There was free wifi in the lobby area.

This is a lovely Chinese Hotel and deserves to claim 5 stars within the Chinese rating system. Rooms are of modest size, and very clean and odor free (mostly). White carpets, soft beds, nice linens. A medium size bathroom with both large tub and separate shower. Tasteful neutral colors and marble. Good amenities, soft, clean, fluffy white towels and robes.

A large desk with chair lines the bedroom wall. An overstuffed chair with ottoman for relaxing. While this is definitely NOT a 5 star western hotel nor of the Mandarin or Raffles quality, it is clean and with a number of tasteful features.

The lobby is a odd mix of European and Western but it works and is comfortable with many smaller nooks and crannies to find a quiet space. There are only 2 restaurant choices a definite drawback. Buffet style breakfast and dinner and a smaller snack kind of restaurant directly next to it. Withint the immediate block around the hotel, there was no restaurants to be found.

the staff are efficient and helpful at all times in every part of the hotel. They work hard at trying to provide good service and manage to deliver.

There is no ATM in the hotel for foreign cards, but next door is a Bank of China.

The rooms here are unusual in that the bathroom is part of the main room, ok if staying with husband/wife, but difficult if sharing with someone your just travelling with. Breakfast is very Chinese, coffee horrid. The bar/cafe area is good, but the staff stumble with service (there seemed to be a lot of trainees on staff) The foyer is very comfortable and the staff very polite.

I visited Xian for 3 days and booked the hotel through Agoda.com. The hotel is excellently located on East Road (Dong Dajie) about 10 minutes walk from the Bell Tower (centre of town). Additionally, there is a public bus stop right in front of the hotel that will take you to the Xian Railway Station (more on that in traveller’s tips below).

Pros:
1) Location of the hotel to the centre of town – everything is in walking distance;
2) Friendly staff – helped me by writing the location of where I wanted to go in Chinese characters, friendly greeting whenever they saw me;
3) Complimentary in-room internet access (LAN only NOT Wi-Fi. For tablet users, free Wi-Fi is in the hotel lobby);
4) Rooms are large sized with a mini-hallway that leads into the room from the door (photos are below) and the bathroom is spacious with a full size tub and separate shower room

Cons:
1) Extra charge for breakfast – RMB 120 approximately. Given that the hotel isn’t a youth hostel, they should have included this complimentary. Instead, I chose to walk 5 minutes to a Starbucks for two croissants and a cup of tea for RMB40 (turn left from the hotel, heading in the direction of the Bell Tower, stay on Dong Dajie and you’ll see the iconic Starbucks mermaid logo on the street);
2) Cigarette smoke – I got a non smoking room on a non-smoking floor (9th floor), yet late at night, I could smell cigarette smoke in my room. The hotel needs to find a way to enforce the non-smoking rules of the hotel;
3) Hard mattresses – I think this is a common problem in hotels in China – I prefer a softer spring mattress but it wasn’t too bad;

Overall, I give the Xian Grand Noble a solid 3 stars. If they can address the cons listed above, I would give them a four or possibly higher

Room Tip: Traveller’s tips: 1) Getting to town from the airport – taxis will charge RMB150+. Instead, take s...

The hotel is not bad and since we were with a tour, we really did not have a chance to walk around the neighborhood. The rooms are a bit smaller than the ones in a Marriott but good enough for us since there were only 2. However, I would imagine it might be a bit crowded for 4. The breakfast was pretty good. Food is a bit more spicier because of the area but we loved it. Stay with the Chinese items after all you are in China. The bathrooms are fine.... more modern than I expected.

Room Tip: Stick with the Asian food...

This hotel has an excellent location in the heart of Xi'an. Breakfast was fine - more oriented to the Chinese palate, and service was rushed. Frotn desk staff were very help. Wireless available in the lobby. Cafe/bakery had reasonable options.

Rooms were very clean albeit slight run-down. Absolutely fine for a few nights stay - most time is spent outside the hotel at any rate!

Nice hotel, we had a slight problem at check in but was soon sorted, not many westerners staying here but the hotel was clean and friendly. Good location for the centre of Xian, the food in the restaurant was good however we only ate breakfast there so can't really comment on the meals in the evening.
