I booked to stay at this hotel for 2 nights and thought it would be somewhat like a traditional chinese palace like in the pictures. When I arrived, the outside of the building looked grey(not white) like in the pictures and the inside lobby was very dark. They gave me a room and it was quite spacious, however it was dirty, dark, and smelled! It felt like I was the only person staying at the hotel. Nevertheless, I was exhausted from my flight so I took a nap for a few hours. When I woke up at around 5pm, I couldn't stay there any longer so I told the receptionist and they tried to get me to pay for the whole night! I ended up paying for half a day.

Afterwards, I spent a little more and stayed at the lemon hotel! I highly recommend this place for anyone visiting Xi an! It's close to the bell tower, drum tower and the food street and it is new and very good value!

Hotel looks imperious (somewhat like a medieval chinese palace) from outside, but everything else inside looks old, very tired and out dated. Smell of cigrettes whiffs around the lobby. Staff doesn't speak much english and there seems to be a problem with the credit card transactions. The rooms are below average mainly due to the old age. Carpet is extremely dirty and stained but everything else in the room is reasonably clean. Had a room with a view of the City Wall, and oh there's a nice bar at the City Wall with a live band, only mandarin music though.

Breakfast at the hotel is only ok, but there's only chinese food served. For western food, you have to pay extra. No free coffee nor tea at the buffet table. What's worse is there's ALOT of group tours staying at the hotel, and there's always a mad rush to grab food, and it's normal to share tables with strangers.

ANyway, the price is right for such a hotel, and if i'm on a budget, will consider staying there again but opting for the western breakfast.

Room Tip: Choose a room with city wall views. They are lighted up at night and looks nice

Nice hotel near park, great entrance and lobby with imperator feeling, quite comfortable, good meal, need for spa or other relaxation.

Room Tip: choose room with inside yard view, you will see city wall

We stayed here for 2 nights in October 2011. The room was clean and had everything we needed. The hotel is not close (i.e. walking distance) to any of the attractions of Xi'an city (City Wall, Drum and Bell Towers, Mosque etc.). But if you just need somewhere to stay in the city and are not interested in the sites or you are happy to get taxis or walk for long distances then I have no complains about the hotel.

One evening we ate in the restaurant as we didn't fancy the walk into town. The food was fine, the dinning room isn't kept all that tidy but we were full and contented at the end of the evening.

Shuttle bus to Bell Tower from airport on arrival was ok but challenging to get a taxi to hotel from there. Grabbed cab from front of hotel to go to airport on departure (125 yuan). Staff fairly unfriendly and only one I met at Reception spoke a little English. I requested Garden View (tip froom Trip Advisor) and that was great. Was on ground floor level. Lovely views of the city wall lit up at night. Room was nice and spacious, 2 beds, although single booking. Located in not so nice part of town. I walked a lot but nothing much to see in this direction. Taxi to more interesting areas. Did tour of the warriors and that was great. Xian is a better looking city than Beijing but the people aren't as nice in my experience over just a few days. Very dusty place (like Beijing) though, probably the season. Polution pretty awful here also. Restaurant left a lot to be desired, a few tour groups in there and they seemed content enough. Guess it was pretty good hotel for the cost but needs some improvements.
