The rooms are small ( travelling with a child = extra bed = 3 beds in a row, no space inbetween and around the beds), the carpet is dirty and the bathroom not well cleaned. We upgraded to a suite, bigger - but hygienestandards stayed the same...
When we checked in our luggage stayed in the lobby for 45 minutes.. when we called the concierge to bring it up, they did not find it... alltough we could see it from our room :-)
The breakfast is not at all inviting ( asian breakfast buffets can do much better...)
The only good thing about the hotel is the location, rigth in front of a big gate in the citywall, illuminated at night- a very beautiful sight. And since it is huge problem to find a taxi in Xian, it is good to have a hotel rigth in front of the major shopping street of the old town.

Room Tip: rooms 25-30 have view to the citywall, the higher the better...

This must have been a great hotel when it first opened.

However, it is getting a little aged.

The rooms are clean and ok but, the entire facility needs updating.

However the big plus of this hotel is the close proximity to the south gate of the walled city.

Many sites are right by the door step.

It was in a great location to the city wall but our room was a bit odd. It was a corner room that had long aisles to bath or beds and no place to put luggage. Ther must haver torn down the building next to it so our room overlooked a dumpy constssruction site. Not much they can do about that though. The lobby was lovely with a beautiful fountain in it. The town is a coal heated town so very smoggy...gritty and it sort of came into the hotel. I am not sure what else was available since we were part of a group..and the room was adequate, clean and pleasant. Breakfast was buffet with excellent choices alot of western food so our needs were met. A couple of couples got sick after breakfast and we will never know if it was the food there or not unfortunatley. We always took a pepto bismal every day to coat our tummies.

Main purpose of trip was to visit Terracotta statues. Xian is quite polluted and the dust affected my asthma. Room clean and bed comfortable. No english TV channels. Had problem getting Wi fi,, but management sent someone up to sort it out. Concierge could not speak much english. Taxis are not clean. Private tours recommended.

Room Tip: Need non smoking floor and higher up the better .

After a day of visiting the warriors and strolling the walls of Xi'an we landed at the Grand Park Hotel having booked it on CTrip. It's a fairly dated looking hotel just outside the city walls, but inside the lobby is nice and the rooms are clean but quite small.
We ate an evening meal in the buffet which was great value and handy for our 3 year old - was easy to find something for her to eat.
So, it's not the most exciting hotel you'll ever stay in, but it's clean, good views of the walls at night and easy walking distance to the bell and drum towers etc.

Room Tip: Go for a room at the back, high up.

This is about as good a location one can get, but typically of some hotels in China - it just is a little tired. They also forgot to book our return car to the airport despite morning reminders.
