We stayed in the Yihe Palace hotel for 2 nights in March
I had been travelling on business and staying in very good hotels in
China, and used a travel agent to book this 3 day 2 night tour from Beijing to Xi-an. Xi'an was greatbut the hotel was very disappointing
Downtown XI'an is very nice and we would have liked to walk around,
but our hotel was very far out of the center
The hotel was dirty- carpets in halls were filthy
The room was relatively clean in terms of sheets/bathroom, but carpets were filthy, floor sticky and curtains were covered with mildew and there was a general damp smell about the place-probably because there is no bathroom exhaust so windows (which were also very dirty) got covered with condensation. No ammenities in bathroom except a generic
liquid soap dispenser.

Breakfast was the worst- a free for all- we got there- no where to sit, no coffee cups, and when I asked I was ignored, and not a very high quality breakfast compared to others I had in China

On the other hand, we slept fine
Internet was free and worked well
IN the morning we walked around and found an interesting street where people
were getting their food from street vendors -our guide indicated this was where poor people eat- but it seemed more authentic than the tourist areas

This is definetly not a 4 star, at best a 2 star
We organized this 2 day part of our trip as a a package with hotel/driver and English speaking guide-the guide was wonderful, but In hindsight I'd book
my own hotel and organize a guide separately- easy to do online or at the hotel

Room Tip: Book your own through trip advisor

Everything looks so good, but when you feel to be served something, you might feel yourself miserable. No other language except Chinese is communicated.

+ nice spacious rooms
+ free internet in the rooms, laptop connection
+ nice breakfast

- too far from center
- extremely hard bed, as if you were sleeping on the floor
- good bathroom, but low water pressure
