“Satisfactory accommodation for a few days”
Reviewed December 1, 2013

We stayed here in November 2013 for a few days en route to Dunhuang. Good aspects include

1. location - walking distance to Bell and Drum Towers, Muslim Quarter and Mosque, department stores, Starbucks, KFC and McD's (for those who are desperate) and lots of alleys with fresh noodle and kebab stalls - local style;
2. Pleasant front desk staff
3. Very delicious freshly cooked breakfast
4. OK room - good size but not very clean

Annoying/Bad aspects include:

1. Phone calls from local "call girls" in the middle of the night every night. Very annoying!
2. Absolute filth built up over years in the upstairs public areas (and I suspect under the beds but I wasn't brave eough to look) hallways and stairways.
3. No lift/elevator.

I'd look elsewhere for accommodation in Xian.

This is certainly one of the better hostels I have stayed in. Undoubtedly one of the best in Xi'an, if not China. Our 3rd floor room had a spectacular view overlooking the bell tower. It was a pleasure to sit by the window at night and admire the lights and sounds of the streets below. The beds are hard, as is to be expected, but the room overall is extremely well presented. The bathroom, at least in our room, was hotel-esque, almost as if someone had renovated it. The staff are very friendly and outgoing. They will not hesitate to assist in any way they can. The bar downstairs is a hive of activity, packed with locals and travellers alike. There is a huge selection of food on their menu and I can certainly say that there are some excellent meals to be had here, both Chinese and western. Above all else, the location is the selling point. The proximity to the central metro station means you will never need to worry about how to get around. Additionally, their are plenty of bus connections nearby. All this for a 'hostel' price. There is undoubtedly no better place to stay in Xi'an.

Room Tip: Get a room on an upper floor with a view of the bell tower

I enjoyed a wonderful week at the Bell Tower.
Bang i the middle of Xi'an, there is no better place to stay. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly, and amenities totally adequate.
I managed to break a bone in my knee on my last day in Xi'an,I stumbled back to the YHA with help, where they looked after me, in every way,til I had to leave for the night train to BEIJING. They stored my baggage, gave me ice for my knee, beer for my spirit, a free computer to let people at home know what was happening, and got a taxi for me to the station.
Would return there in an instant. Xi'an is wonderful to explore, the Muslim Market, the Terra Cotta Warriors, the mountains, panda's, the city itself, and so much more.
If you get a chance, stay at the Bell Tower and experience a wonderful home, in an amazing city!

Room Tip: I went for a double, and was lucky enough to have a bathroom, the other guest never turned up. I was...

We stayed here 3 nights and found this hostel better than a hostel, it was like a serviced hotel. You couldn't have found a better place to stay in Xian for the price, it was right in the centre near the Bell Tower so everything was in walking distance. The metro station and local bus stops were just outside.

The room was clean, spacious and comfortable which was serviced daily. The beds in China are firmer than most countries but we have stayed in some places where the beds are too soft or so worn you can feel the springs so we prefer firm to soft. The room comes with a TV (we only found one one English channel though), air-con, wifi and a huge bathroom.

Our room was located on the 5th floor which was a hike up the stairs but I think staying on Level 4 or 5 is better than the lower rooms as the corridors are carpeted. The lower floors had concrete which gave an old feeling about the place.

The music room just above the stairs from reception is a chic comfortable sitting area and the bar next door which is also connected to the hostel was like an upmarket uni bar. Clean, funky and full of atmosphere. It wasn't crowded when we went there but if it's full of locals, I imagine it would get noisy, like any bar really. We had dinner there one night and it was one of the better meals we had in China with local and western meals on offer.

The hostel provided us with free coffee/beer coupons. The free coffee is served in the small dining area in the hostel and the free beers at the bar. You can't get better than that!

The staff were friendly and helpful with information. Their English isn't the best but good enough to understand.

We moved from another hostel to stay here. We had read all the other recent reviews on the place and we really like it.

The place is right opposite the Bell Tower in the middle of Xi'an and has the most amazing views of it by night. People are right in what they say, the corridors are dirty but all they need to do is put a new carpet and the place will be alright.

The staff were all friendly and spoke good English & helped us get some train tickets. We were up on the 5th floor, so it was a bit of a climb everyday but fantastic views from our room (Room 503). The rooms themselves were spacious, cleaned daily and had great showers with hot water.

The location is what sells this place and it was a lot quieter than I thought it would be at night time, which was a bonus. There are excellent bus connections to the various parts of the city and bus 611 or 201 take you to the car park by Xi'an station where you can catch the buses to the Terracotta Warriors, Huashan Mountains and various other places.

The hostel is well located but he is too dirty , the breakfast eggs was cold .
I think the hotel must invest in renovation if he wants to have more clients and offer a better service. There was no lift, the receptionist was quiet, unconfident and spoke litte English .
We have the Wi-Fi in the bedroom . the bar next door which was filthy and stuck of smoke.

Room Tip: our room was on the 4 floor , private with the private bath. Not noisy but old old !!!
