This cave is a famous attraction in guilin. If you like this cave consider visiting the yiling rock cave near nanning which is much bigger. The cave itself has multicolored lights which in my opinion makes things much more interesting. The cave has some renown because on the outside there is mention of many foreign dignitaries that have visited here.

They were old and quite varied, interesting for a first time visit to such underground caves. I did not appreciate the garish lighting.

Such a huge cave...easy access and not crowded....in many ways it is so spectacular that it doesn't really need the special coloured lighting....but that is a matter of taste.

This cave is well decirated
They made use of every single corner in it
The lighting used is pretty good
They try to name every piece of stalactite or stalagmite in order to give an impression
Best of all the light reflections on the water
Wow

We took the advice of earlier reviewers and took the bus to the cave. However, we had arrived too early for the afternoon English tour, so we decided to join the Chinese tour instead. . . I would say that the commentary provided by the guide will add to the experience, as they describe to you the shapes that can be imagined from the formations, however, if you have a powerful imagination and enjoy the wonder that is the cave, you can also do without. The lights as some have mentioned will turn off after the guides leave, so do try to keep up. . . or wait for the next guide to come along. Overall we enjoyed our experience.
