Guilin is a beautiful place well worth a visit. The Guilin Bravo Hotel is right at the lake which is spectacular during the day and even more stunning at night. There are amazing walking paths around the lake and it is an easy walking distance to the town centre. The interior design of the hotel (reception and hotel room) is beautiful. It is very clean, staff are friendly and helpful. We did not eat in the hotel as there are interesting small places to eat along the lake which means you can watch the light show at night. I highly recommend the hotel for anyone thinking about staying in Guilin.

We enjoyed the hotel and the area, Li river tour, comerant fishing etc. The hotel was again of a very resonable standard and I would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to fit in the maximum China in 2 weeks. Virgin Bales have done their homework and I have no complaints about any of the accomodations. The main tour guide was brilliant, some of the local guides just told you parrot fashion what you could read on the display plaques. Also got a bit tired of having to tip all and sundry at each location. The guide said we would need a holiday after this tour and she was right. It was a wonderful tour. Now where's the beach for our next holiday.

I've actually stayed here twice - once in December 2009 and again in June, 2011. Both times the hotel was pre-booked for me. In December 2009, my first room had a toilet that didn't work (at all). When I switched rooms, I had a room with no heat. Huge, but no heat. Since I arrived at 2am, I just took it and wore my coat to bed.

In June, I traveled with my two young children as part of a tour we joined after some solo travel. Our room was good sized, but decor was dated. The breakfast buffet was decent - some fun choices, but not nearly as creative as it had been in Dec 09 or as nice as our other hotels in China. The pool was cloudy and greenish-tinged, and we only used the spa since it seemed cleaner. The staff at the hotel was friendly and courteous.

The location was great - near the walking path around one of the lakes, walking distance to the night market, and there are some great little neighborhood cafes nearby for a quick tasty bite. If you can, ask for a room with a view toward the lake - you'll get quite a night show of neon at night.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that faces the lake - its a nice view in the daytime and night, but only if bright ne...

Fianl stop over (2 nights) for Splendours of China tour. Situated in town centre.
As other reviews have stated, slightly tired looking decour but still clean.
Bedroom has furniture dating from Ming time, again 2 standard size double beds - comfortable enough. Bathroom reflects bedroom but clean - no complaints
Breakfast usual Western/ Chinese fayre - quality no complaints
Service as efficient as any other hotel on tour.
Lake outside front of hotel - guide recommended evening walk - our problem being the high humidity due to time of season, so didn't do the walk and no review account !
Would stay again

A bit of renovation would be welcomed, and in the meanwhile, bargain hard to get a good deal and you'll find a real Chinese hotel, in the pure style from the glorious 80s. long cooridors, large but very plain and uninspiring rooms, a huge hotel for mass tourism industry.

Breakfast a bit messy if there are a lot of groups, but this is part of the nostalgic 80s experience as well.

Nothing special hotel and rooms. Seems more like a simple businessman's hotel than a tourist hotel looking to be something special. Breakfast options were simple and frankly only fair. Presentation was like they were doing a favor. Service for other meals while staying in the hotel was abysmal. Still not westernized to any extent and the number of staff speaking English was very limited.
Rooms were small and bathroom amenities/toiletries limited. Only plus is location.

Stayed two nights in a "standard" room with my wife and adult son (on an extra bed), very nice room, a little crowded for three adults. Very good breakfast buffet, part of our package. Take an evening walk around the lake and enjoy the lights, music, and park area.
