Stayed at Wada for three nights this past week. Was impressed, dorms were clean, common area was fun and had a great personality, staff was very helpful, and the tours for local attractions were good. We went to the Longji rice terraces and Li River cruise. Also had good Western food, although a bit pricey, but still worth it for recently new expat ;) Would definitely stay at again

The hostel is really big and nice. The girls who work there speak great English and are very very helpful. The location of the hostel is very close to the bus and train station. The general atmoshphere of the hostel is great.

We've been traveling in China for almost a month. Every now and then we miss the comforts of home – communicating in English, customer service, western-style cocktails, Bob Marley, VPN access to Facebook/YouTube/Google+. Wada hostel offers all of these things.

We arranged for an airport pick-up. The “Wada girls” responded to each email within minutes. We paid 120 RMB to have a driver pick us up at the Guilin airport. Although our flight was delayed by 30 minutes, he was waiting with a sign that had our name on it. The ride to the hostel was ~30 minutes.

Our room was nothing too fancy, but it was clean and it had A/C (a must – it’s very hot and humid). Our room key came with a locker key. The lockers are in the front hallway (big enough for our computer). It didn’t bother us, but a few parts of the hostel are a bit worn down. The tile steps leading up to our room were coming off, with a few cracked and pieces floating around.

We arrived on Monday evening during their weekly dumpling making party. Although we did not help make dumplings, we were invited to share in plate after plate of them. There is a grocery store with take-out food in the mall across the street, so we supplemented the dumplings with a 10 RMB dinner and 20 RMB cocktails from the Wada bar (2 for 1 happy hour from 8-10pm).

After Guilin, we will travel to Yangshuo and then Hong Kong. Wada helped us plan our travel plans to each destination. They gave us a map to the express bus to Yangshuo (20 RMB) and actually ran over to the train station to book the night train from Guilin to Shenzen – just outside Hong Kong (soft sleeper: 444 RMB for the bottom, 426 RMB for the top + 20 RMB commission for each ticket).

The best part about staying at Wada was having access to Facebook. They have a wireless network with a VPN so you can get access on your own device. It was really nice to check in with friends from home and let everyone know we are safe.

What a breath of fresh air the minute you walk into this place. The staff is extremely helpfull and speak English very well. The place is right near the trainstation, only 400 meters away so convinient when stopping for a quick visit.
Tours and other advice are being given without a hesatation, just perfect. Food is great and the place itself is good. There are enough places in- and outside where you can meet other travellers. Rooms are are clean.
All in all this wasm the best hostel we've stayed in during our 6 months trip through SE Asia. Thumbs up for the owner but especially for his/her staff.
If I should ever return to Guilin, this will for sure be the place I will visit again! Big recommendation

We really appreciated this hostel: cheap clean, not far away from the bus and railway stations, and most of all a very nice and helfpfull team. The staff helped us to book several trips in Guilin Yangshuo and the rice terrasse and gave us many advices.
Thanks to all of you.

Wada Hostel is a really nice and clean place near the city centre of Guilin. Wifi and showers are 24/7 available, towels are provided. The staff (Ada and Alice are awesome!) helped us organizing our trips and gave us helpful advices. Western & Chinese food was really good and cheap - best cappucino & dumplings in China!
