“Beijing Road - a treasure chest of great deals!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 17, 2013

Visited Beijing Road shopping district in Guangzhou, if you enjoy shopping, set aside a minimum of an entire day to browse. Some great clothing shops and new gadgets, the deals are great and there are huge crowds, so prepare yourself. There are promoters everywhere, trying to lure you in to a great deal! We went to view a temple in the same area, and it was a cultural experience where you could light incense and see how worship is done. Beijing Road is a must see and well worth making your way through the large crowds. Open till 22h00 at night, so there is ample time to browse. I could not find a western style toilet - advised to go to the nearest hotel or try the mcdonalds. There is food available and lots of great promotions!

“The heart of Guangzhou”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 6, 2013

This pedestrian street is lined with tourists and locals. Lots of shops and eateries nearby. I felt safe walking here during night time, but beware of your belongings and children. On the first day, in broad daylight with many people about, we witnessed a grandma crying with policemen assisting her - her grandchild was in the stationary pram (they were either sitting down or stopping by outside a shop), turned her head the other way for a minute, and the child was gone! Also beware of pickpockets.

“Famous pedestrian street in GZ”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 3, 2013 via mobile

When visiting GZ, you must visit Beijing Lu (road) and ShangXiaJu Lu- two famous pedestrian shopping streets. It is always packed with people. Beijing Lu is lined with shops selling Chinese goods and Western name brands. For eating, there are plenty of choices. If you only want to eat Western food though, then you have a familiar choice of McDonalds, KFC etc. However, the local menu have their own variation and it is slightly different.

There were a few interesting shops but in general it had most of the same shops you find in the malls.
Wouldn't bother visiting again
