We had a variety of dishes and all were wonderfully flavored. The yak was tasty and tender. The dishes were nicely presented and arrived very quickly. The atmosphere was very comfortable. The service was adequate but really was the only thing that was not outstanding. This is a restaurant that I will definitely return to on another trip to Guangzhou.

Came with a group of friends for dinner, with no expectations. There atmosphere was great and so as the food! The yak and lamb casseroles were awesome, very well presented. Must admit, that usually i am not a huge fan of veterinarian dishes, but the mixed mushrooms dish and eggplant dishes- were incredible. Even the wine was pretty good. We had a family style dinner, and this is the best way to enjoy and try all dishes that the place has to offer. Must admit that it was a great surprise for me to have such a great dinner and at fare price. The traditional dance/songs breakouts that lead by a group of 4 girls wearing Himalayan dresses had a nice touch. If i'll ever come to GZ again- it's definitely a place I want to come back to.

The combination of food, music, and ambience combine to make Himalaya one of our favorite "go-to" spots in Guangzhou when we have friends or family in town. Casserole dishes and roasted lamb, chicken, and yak are the staples, a bit on the greasy side but wonderfully seasoned and presented. The fresh baked barley bread served with home made yogurt (from yak milk- don't be turned off by the sound of it, its wonderfully smooth and sweet) is awesome; wash it all down with some barley beer. There is also a limited but balanced selection of vegetable dishes for the non-meat eaters or to balance out the casseroles, and a choice of nicely prepared fried rices.

The background music is cool and funky, and live Tibetan music and traditional dances -audience participation is encouraged-start about 8 to complete the experience. Staff is very friendly and speak English.

For those who have been before, the restaurant has moved from its original location. It's just a 5 minute walk away, back past the Holiday Inn, turn right on He Ping and its 30 meters or so up the street. The sign is in Chinese but it has the same Prayer wheels by the door. The new location has a larger outdoor seating area.

Enjoy!
