a very nice hotel, seems to be very famous in Guangzhou city. Said to be a platinum 5 star hotel, never heard of this ranking but it did show it's value.
The perfect location of this hotel, just opposite the metro station and close to the shopping centre.
The hotel staffs are very friendly and helpful, especially the front office staffs, thanks to them i had a very pleasant trip in the strange place. The front office manager Jerry, a real gentleman, and the team is very professional.
The hotel room is a bit small and old, but consider the hotel is more 20 years, i have to say that i'm impressed by their effort in the maintenance.
In a word, it's a nice hotel, look forward to be back and stay in garden hotel

Room Tip: the elite room will be a nice choice, recently renovated

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience on Tripadvisor.

I am delighted to learn that you had an enjoyable stay with us and were impressed with our location and services. The Garden Hotel, Guangzhou, the first and only Platinum 5-Star Hotel in Guangzhou, the flagship hotel of the Lingnan Group's deluxe hotel collection — LN Garden Hotel and the Headquarter Hotel of The 16th Asian Games. Besides, we have renovation plan for rooms on lower floors and I suggest you to choose Deluxe and Executive room categories which is more spacious (64㎡) with an elegant design.

Once again, thank you for sharing your experience with us and we look forward to welcoming you back for your next visit in Guangzhou.

Kind Regards

The late night bus from the airport had its first stop literally in the hotel lobby of this grandiose hotel...The Garden Hotel in the hub of Guangzhou. For a first time visitor to the The People's Republic of China, I had the first taste of the renowned Chinese hospitality in this hotel. With a major on-going renovation at its main entrance, an alternative entrance, good enough for a main entrance welcomed me into this magnificent masterpiece of hospitality. With a generous room space, deluxe and comfortable bed, I slept off into the earlier hours of the morning.

My evenings were spiced up by a live singing duet at the raised hotel lobby bar. A lovely pair of multi lingual talented musicians - kept me company through the early hours of the nights.

Have you seen the waterfall in this hotel? A genius of creativity.

Price? A bit above being moderate. A bit stingy with the complimentary (room) coffee though.

Save for some noisy neighbours who moved in next room, my seven nights stay at The Garden Hotel was great. Charming and ever smiling staff. Nice place to be. Should be back end of August and I hope the renovation works would have been completed.

I would be back.

I had previously stayed in another hotel whilst in Guangzhou (3.5 star) but this time I was travelling with 2 colleagues and we chose this 5 star hotel on its reputation. Never again!! The reception area is very grande, but the room stank of smoke (was on a non smoking floor) it was small, tired and dated. I also got sick from a coffee served in the bar downstairs which was from cream that was off. I stayed no more than one night!! Further when i arrived home to Australia I noticed Id been charged for my room and the holding deposit - as had my colleague. So I'm now trying to get this back. I'm sorry to say it's the worst hotel I've stayed in and it's most definitley not 5 star.

This was one of the best hotels I ever stayed at in Guangzhou China. The Rooms were clean and relaxing with all the amenities possible with. The Food at Breakfast buffet was very good and all the staff from servers to bellboys and front desk were very helpful and polite. I upgraded the room when offered at checkin to executive floors which was about 50% higher but The room size was double and lot of extras were included such as Breakfast buffet and High Tea/ Cocktails etc.The Décor in the rooms was very modern and clean with highend washroom.
It was very close to Starbucks, Seven Eleven, Barista, Mcdonalds, KFC, Barista and lot of other Bars, Taverns and restaurant.

Room Tip: upgrade to an executive room at check in and get Breakfast, High Tea / Cocktails and laundry servi...

We stayed at the Garden during our son's adoption in July.
The hotel was large and clean with gorgeous grounds.
Beds had nice bedding and the bathrooms were large.
The outdoor pool was nice for exercise and had a children's pool.
We weren't impressed with the breakfast buffet's food choices or seating area.
While the hotel staff was polite they weren't necessarily friendly!
There were good restaurant choices nearby but you had to take a cab to go to the downtown shopping area and Shamian Island.

I have been coming to Guangzhou for over 10 years. These days, the Garden Hotel exists solely on name and reputation. The rooms are small and dated. The staff is cold and carries the unfortunate attitude of those that have been in what was THE hotel in Guangzhou for many years. The older staff have been here for years and are complacent and many times rude. The new staff follow their example. Even the interactions I have had with senior management have been less than desirable. The restaurants are equally dated as are the offerings. The food is cutting-edge China circa 1998. The prices are unreal and illogical. A glass of juice costs as much as a sandwich and more than a cocktail. The Carousel restaurant offers a 3-star buffet at $100 per head! The entryways into and around the hotel are being systematically closed to make it more convenient for the hotel to control traffic through the hotel. Sorry, but that's the cost of doing business for a 5-star hotel in the center of one of the world's biggest cities. Guests should no be inconvenienced for the sake of the hotel's convenience. Lobby and gym are the only things approaching true 5-star standard.

There are many other new hotels in Guangzhou at similar price points. Save yourself the trouble and book those! Garden needs a facelift and software upgrade.

I stayed three nights here while attending an exhibition, Hotel is beautiful to start with, as you walk in you get this beautiful lobby, wood carved painting behind reception is worth a picture. Do remember to take a walk in the beautiful garden behind the hotel, it has huge waterfalls in green surroundings.

Rooms are well equipped and well maintained, cleanliness was top notch.

There was a bus service to the fair, otherwise a taxi would cost 40 RMB and were plenty available.

Breakfast was good, quite long list of items, with different live cooking stations.

All the staff that i came across spoke very well English.

There was quite a few Halal restaurants around the hotel, with famous Sultan Restaurant across the street, but if you take a left and walk towards McDonalds and KFC on the left side of the hotel, you will find few others, from Mexican, to grill chicken to arabic all displaying Halal signs.

Over All an excellent hotel and in a green surrounding.

Room Tip: do walk in the garden behind the hotel
