“Remote but comfortable”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

this is a good hotel with beautiful gardens. We have stayed for 3 nights during Chinese New Year holiday. It was a little bit cool so couldnot swim. The employees in the hotel are very nice and helpful, everyone say hello to you everywhere. Room is large and comfortable, seperate bathroom and toilet. The facilities are new and good too. Even equipped with IPAD charger in each room. Far away from the city center. The transportation from the hotel to the city or airport is expensive, basically you have no choice but take the hotel bus. Eating is also higher too compared with other hotels in the city. Generally recommend to stay in summer time for 2 nights. The enviornment outside the resort area is not good. No near sightseeings are there.

Thanks for staying in our hotel and sharing with us. We are glad the hotel is up to your expectation. There are many sightseeings aroung our hotel, such as Istone Mineral Park, Vanilla Garden, and we also offer Istone Mineral Park Package and Vanilla Garden Package to those who are interested in them. And the outdoor swimming pool is open from April 15, it would be better to stay in our hotel during the coming summer. Look forward to welcoming back again in the near future.

I had a chance to visit Sheraton Huadu . It's a villa-style hotel and you may need a small "golf car" to drive you around. Certainly you can also walk around the hotel to different places and it only take you 5-10 mins walking distance. It's very relaxing experience to be there. (You can hire a shuttle bus at 100/person at scheduled time at Guangzhou Westin, which is close to the railway station).

My room has a private pool (but there is no warm/hot water). You can swim inside your own villa~

For the food, you almost eat at the Chinese restaurant there. I can guarantee it's one of the best Chinese food in hotels in China in terms of taste. I really eager to go there again!

I stayed in room facing the outdoor pool. The view is beautiful and relaxed. I think the view is better than lake view room. The hotel is clean and new. Facility is good with two swim pools, gym and kid center. Restaurants are a bit pricey with average quality. Travel by taxi from guangzhou dong station costs about CNY240 for nearly one hour. But hotel provides cheaper shuttle bus service third times per day to downtown. May check with hotel.

Sorry for the late respond. Thank you for your kind sharing and we are glad the hotel is up to your expectation. We provide shuttle service between resort and downtown Guangzhou (Sheraton Guangzhou Hotel or The Westin Guangzhou). It departs from resort at 09:30am, 02:30pm & 07:00pm and back to resort at 10:45am, 03:45pm & 8:30pm. CNY50 per person per each way, need to contact Concierge to reserve your seat at least 3 hours in advance. Look forward to welcoming back again in the near future.

We spent a night here when it was just opened. It was very far away from Guangzhou downtown,so we ordered the shuttle service to and from The Westin Guangzhou,of course, there was a charge.Because it was a new property and many amenities were being decorated,so we did feel a little bit boring during our stay.

The resort was great, the public pool which is near lobby was beautiful. The room was nice and large. There was nice lake view from our room. But the room was very hot and the air conditioner was not working well.

The breakfast buffet was disappointing! There was a few selection of food!

Service is average.

Overall,it's a good place for a weekend trip.

I stayed there with employee price. My friends and me, total 6 persons, shared 3 rooms, one of which was villa. The rooms were large, clean. In the villa room, there was a balcony, even larger than my own bedroom. The sofa was also big enough for us to play poker and chatting.
The swimming pool was good. We swam there in the evening. But it's dark.
It is far from the city center. You can only drive there. But I will choose it again for weekend trip.

Room Tip: Rooms by the lake or Villa will be great

This is a pretty new property and getting a taxi from the airport is extremely tricky. Taxi drivers are reluctant to make a trip here and many claim ignorance .

The hotel layout is wonderfully designed and we were upgraded to a villa but it is not a suite. The living area and the rooms are not separated. However they do have a sitting area and a pavilion outside the room with views of the mountains and the part of the lake.

Service was commendable and everyone we met were pleasant and helpful. No complaints.

Stayed at this resort a couple of weeks after it opened. The owner of this resort also owns the Four Points Sheraton in the Dongpu District of Guangzhou. Similar to many other newly opened Starwood properties in China, if the property does not have a lounge (or if it is currently closed because it is still being constructed), the breakfast benefit typically provided to SPG Platinum members (prevalent in Greater China at least) is not offered. The resort has high aims for architectural design intent, but to me it seemed a little bit of a mismatch of Eastern / Western designs. To be sure, the rooms are grand with very high ceilings. Unfortunately the areas around the lake (that is not part of the Sheraton) are not properly landscaped/developed, so the residents across the lake have much better views than you have as a guest of the property. We were upgraded to a “villa” (I believe this is a property with a lot of different room and villa types so if you are not happy with your assigned room, ask for something else), which is not exactly a suite, but did have a sizable patio. Many high end finishes are used at this property. The main outdoor pool was quite nice. Transportation to and from the hotel is decidedly tricky, I almost engaged in a fist fight with a cab driver from the airport (the hotel staffs were useless in giving directions over the phone) and the hotel shuttle driver that took us into Guangzhou city proper after check-out was quite clueless, wasting about an hour of our time getting us stuck in needless traffic congestion by going the wrong way. To be sure, do not just tell the cab driver that you are going to “Huadu” when heading to the resort, if anything that was a little bit misleading and you will likely end up on the wrong side of town. After the debacle of getting to the hotel, this was also the only hotel I have stayed at in China where upon arrival (albeit it was late, around midnight), we could not find staff in the lobby/front desk for about five minutes. While the breakfast benefit was not provided, the dim sum at the Chinese restaurant was agreeable, and the venue afforded good views. I am not sure who the intended clientele base would be for this resort in the middle of nowhere, next to a not very well landscaped lake, perhaps rich locals looking for a stay-cation would drive out here in their luxury vehicles.
