Description: Orient Express is a french restaurant under french management. The cuisine is real and authentic French and is not an approximate interpretation as it is often the case in china at “western”, “French” or “Italian” restaurants. It is located on the beautiful Shamian island in the center of Guangzhou. The restaurant has a large beautiful garden for outdoor dining. It also has a main dining room and two train wagons in the garden for romantic dining. It serves authentic French food for all budgets. The French cuisine combines traditional and authentic flavors with modern and original designs of the dishes. You will indulge yourself with:bourgogne snails,pan-fried goose liver with strawberries, fish tartare marinated and its red tuna sashimi, two kinds of fish carpaccio and its salmon cream,pan-fried scallops and black rice and asparagus,pan-fried sea food, grilled australien beef filet mignon with red pepper “crème brûlé” and crumble, grilled new Zealand lamp chops with houmous, babajanouj and roast vegetables, the traditional French bourguignon beef, french “Confit” style duck leg…It is a place visited by Chinese clients who are looking for an authentic French cuisine experience and come for birthdays, to ask their girl friend to marry, a special business meal or simply with the family. Many foreign business people as well as expatriate foreigners living in Guangzhou are regular clients.L’Orient express est un restaurant de cuisine et de gestion française.

I tend to get tired of chinese food very quickly, whenever I visit China (I go there 2-3 times a year). I was a bit skeptic, but since I stayed nearby, I gave it a try.
Ordered the steak with fries and pepper sauce, with a glass of Medoc wine.
Service is a joke (no clue about neither food, nor wine), and so was the steak - chevy and more fat than actual meat. Fries were ok, sauce way too salty. Wine was drinkable.
You have the option of seating in a train wagon, or inside. I was seated in the train, where interior is a bit tacky.

Myself and 3 friends visited the Orient Express and had a fabulous time. The staff were attentive, the food was great and any changes you wished to make away from the menu were easily met by the team.
The restaurant was full of local people, what better advert for it to be an excellent choice!

Hidden on Shamian Island in the heart of Guangzhou is a wonderful haven of tranquility... And delicious French Food! Amid so much bland western restaurants in Guangzhou, The Orient Express is able to create a very authentic French Experience... Together with the verbal abuse from the larger than life French Host! In fact he might try and claim to be the Boss when in actual fact his more enchanting wife, Bing, is the real force behind the enterprise. It is colorful and a vital part of your Guangzhou experience.

This resurant is very beautiful, with a nice outdoor garden, and a renovated train car in the Orient Express decor style. The main bulding is also nicely decorated with large booth and big tables for larger groups. The food is reasonably priced, and excellent. I really enjoyed the chicken with mushroom dish, and the Lyonaisse Salad. The staff has reasonable english skills, and the service was prompt. The owners ()french husband and chinese wife) are very nice, and make sure to greet every guest when they enter and when they leave. All in all, a nice experience for French dining in Guangzhou.

Sitting in a old renovated train cart with great food and wine at an okay price was such a great experience that we had to do it twice. the only concern was the staffs English skills and their missing attention. But overall a great experience with friendly people!
