This hotel is good for one thing only and that is its location to the fair. Otherwise disappointing.
Lobby is awful, bugs all over from the indoor bamboo garden. No comfortable place to work or have a drink. Loud and uninviting. Elevator wait is forever also. Only saving grace is proximity to the fair. Otherwise avoid.

The best hotel for canton fair. It's in the fair grounds. good resturants. great gym. best service. i enjoyed my stay there. The only two disadvateges, the slow elevator and lack of taxies. but it's best business hotel.

This new hotel started operating in September 2011. If you are not attending a fair in one of the adjacent complexes, there is really not much reason to stay here, especially if you do not have a car. Yes, the hotel has fairly easy access to the subway, but why bother when there are no shortages of new hotels in the TianHe District. The food, both in quality and service leaves much to be desired. Perhaps going to the Shangri-La hotel across the street for your F&B needs is a winner, because there are no options around the hotel.

If you are just looking to work (or hang-out) primarily in your room, utilize the lounge offerings in the morning and in the evening, and use the swimming pool, then this may be the hotel for you. If you are in a standard room, request the southwest corner room (xx07), here you will get the best views including the Canton Tower. It does seem that management puts an effort in to upgrade SPG Platinum guests into suites as much as possible, which makes the Westin somewhat more attractive over the older Shangri-La across the street.

Room Tip: SE corner room for better views

This hotel has the perfect location when attending the Trade Show and even has its own direct private access to such. The rooms are massive and seriously gorgeous ( nice firm but soft beds , which are a big plus in China ). It is only 6 months old so is very new. This however shows in the staff as the service generally was shocking. This is the reason I have given it 3 stars as the lack of service seriously impacted on my 4 nights stay. There are 1 or 2 staff that I would say were exceptional but generally I found the staff to be untrained . I ordered room service from the their menu - white egg omelet with broccoli and tomato - I got white egg omelet with nothing in it but a side of bacon and sausage. I sent this back and they resent but still incorrect. Generally the service in the bar / food outlets was appalling and mostly non existent. I had a few unpleasant experiences which really ruined the stay all topped off with the check out process - nightmare !!! 4 staff and forever to do !!! When you charge these rates ( the most expensive option close to fair ) you need to back it up and this Westin does not. Not value for money. Would I stay there again ? Possibly due to the location and the rooms but if I compare with the Shangri La ( stayed and reviewed last year ) - this I have to walk across a road and join the queue for the fair , the rooms are smaller and not as well appointed but the staff and service are 100% better. Bit of a trade off but those of you that read my reviews will know the The Grand Hyatt in Hong Kong is my favourite hotel - all because of the staff and service.

If you come to GZ FAIR, is excelent location. Five minutes from sector C , walking. Near the metro. If you re at gz not at fair is not good location. Have nice lobby, look clean and brilliant. Is a new hotel. And you can enjoy the spa if pay RMB200, with swimming pool and gym.

Room Tip: Top floor, to have good view, about fair building
