“Terrible hotel not in a tourist friendly area”
Reviewed February 4, 2013

We stayed in this hotel in Nov 2012, After we arrived and checked we went to our room and noticed that it seemed a little smaller then the photos on the internet and our kingsize bed was smaller then a queen size, I then approched the reception staff who seemed a angry that i was complaining about the room not being what we booked (They never said sorry about the mistake or anything to that effect), i was then told in a stern voice if you like the kingsize bed room you can have it. After we moved to our correct room we found the upkeep was non existant and combined with poor initial build quality. The hotel isnt in a good location if you dont speak chinese. As we found it very hard to get a proper meal locally and having any idea of what we were ordering. We asked the reception staff where we can go where they either have english menus or speak english and the only place was a horrible western style restaurant that was way overpriced.

What a pity that in such a chic hotel, the staff never clean the bathroom floor (where people stand to shower). Very dirty. If they brushed it, it would be much cleaner than this. You can see in my picture.
Other than that, the room has a very good value. I had a free upgrade so this room is spacious, clean & comfortable.
About 15 minutes slow walk to the nearest subway station. I arrived late at night. The subway doesn't work that late. I took Airport Bus Line 1 for 17 RMB to the last station near main railway station. Took a local vehicle (no meter) for 10 RMB to Q-City Hotel.
Easy to find local restaurants around the hotel.
Free & good wifi at lobby. No wifi in room.

Q-city hotel Is a business hotel, nice to those coming to the city and looking for inexpensive hotel in the city center,we were 3 person sharing a suite with two bedrooms, beds are very comfortable, design is very minimalist, the room was pretty clean, hot water shower, enough for twenty minutes, then you have to wait until the water heat up again, the living room is not comfortable , had a small sofa and few chairs , and in the kitchenette there is nothing except a sink and small refrigerator...Wi-Fi is availble only in the lobby, the room has wired internet only.
the hotel is located on the main road, so you easily can get a taxi anywhere in the city, the distance from the airport is about 40 minutes.,
the hotel is secure, you can enter hotel floor only with a room key and at night there is a guard in the lobby,
breakfast can be eaten within a few meters, at Cafe/ bakery that belongs to Shino hotel,
next to the hotel you can find 7-11 with very poor selection of products.

opposite the hotel ther is a nice Japanese restaurant , so If you're coming to Guaanzhou and the hotel's location is right for you, this hotel is pretty good option

Stayed here from the 14th-19th. Stayed in the junior suite. The room was filthy. Hair laying everywhere on the floor, couch, bed, dirty sink, cobwebs everywhere and I killed a spider the size of my palm, which ran very very fast.
The "suite" was so chopped up, I was very disappointed. The wireless in the lobby was very slow and half way through my stay it went down. I stayed at the fair and out at the bars all day and night as I didn't want to go back to my room. The only saving grace was the location in which there are plenty of places to eat and bars to attend to in the evening.
Overall, I would not tell anyone to stay here.

I'm still staying at this hotel at the time of writing this review. We arrived late due to late flight, room are mostly taken so we were upgraded to better room. LAN cable is provided in room, but no wifi. Wifi is available at the lobby, but light will be switch off during mid-night. Staff are polite, satisfy with their attitude. Wish they can upgrade to wifi system soonest, cos it's such an inconvenience for many iPad user. I hope the management consider my suggestion. Shower floor is a pain if you enjoy long shower, just bear with it, cos it's totally anti- slip, hehe. The best thing of this hotel is the bed and pillow. The signboard of this hotel is not brightly lit, so taxi driver might drive past it. Overall Recommended.

The hotel is in the floors 11 to 14th of the building, but reception is in the ground floor. Friendly and helpful people in the reception. The room is a kind of a small apartment, with kitchen, that doesn´t work and has no dishes, but at least has a fridge working. The room is ok, with A/C, internet by cable, iron, tv with no international channels. The bathroom is also a good one, but the shower floor is a pain for the feet.
The hotel doesn´t have a bar or a restaurant, so for breakfast you can buy something in a 7-11 next door or cross the road and pay for a coffee as much as for a meal!
I would say there is a lack of maintenance in the room, but very comfortable bed and good hotel in general.

a hotel managed by white swan hotel opened in 2011. i stayed there in july, 2012.

the hotel is always offering 50% off for their 40 sq m. junior suite at around 55 dollars (at agoda).

after booking the hotel, the hotel further lowered the price by 10% before the date i checked-in (this time expedia has lower price).

the hotel is designed as apartment type hotel, just like springdale and ascott, but they didn't pass the fire safety requirements yet, so you are not allowed to cook inside the room.

i didn't find the location interesting. the hotel counter personnel told me there is a chinese restaurant nearby for breakfast. the restaurant is in another hotel. if you like chinese dimsum, this restaurant is fine. all dimsum are cooked to order.

i didn't try the restaurant across the street for lunch and dinner, because they looked "expensive".

subway entrance is 5 minutes away.

the hotel has no restaurant, there is a western bakeshop not far away, but i didn't visit it because it is at the opposite direction of subway station.

the room has 2 tv, one inside bedroom and the other one in the sala. air-con is fine, but the temperature is centrally controlled.

it is a cute little hotel, the person at the counter speak good english. A good hotel for business purposes, but you can find better hotel (more expensive) for vacation.

Room Tip: 50% is usually given to junior suite, so choose junior suite.
