Great place to spend the day...lots of great photographic opportunity. Have a peaceful feeling. The ground and garden were clean and well taken care of. Lots of walking with many great stairs. You can get away from the hassle and bustle from the city.

Just returned from a trip to the Lotus Mountain and I would like to correct a few things from the previous reviews that I found to be not entirely right.
Reaching the site is quite easy: in front of the Shiqi metro station there is a bus stop for buses number 92 and 93. Take either one to the end stop (the price is 2 yuan regardless of the destination). The ride will take around 10-15 minutes. The end stop is located on a main way where you can see on both sides a countless series of incences shops and street sellers. From that point on, there are indications on how to find the entrance: if walking straight for about 200m and turning right you will find the West Gate.
The admission fee is 40 yuan per person, but some attractions are not included, for example: Lotus Pagoda (2 yuan), Eagle Tunnel and Cliff (1 yuan)... There are a few elite restaurants in the park and some food sellers, but prices are awfully high (7 yuan for a bottle of water, 5-12 yuan for an ice-cream), so bringing some snacks and drinks from home is advisable.
As for the place in itself, you will see an ancient pagoda and related temple (worth the visit), as well as many carefulyl set up sceneries (very pleasant, but looking so fake).
The main reason I decided to visit the Lotus Mountain was actually the quarry site, which proved to be the greatest disappointment. I was expecting nature tracks, but everything is paved there, although there are some nice passageways on the lotus lakes and some spots are actually impressing. Anyway, I have spent a good day and I would recommend a visit.

Not the most peceful place on earth when its tourist time, but a good weekday adventure to get away from the bustle of Guangzhou or Panyu city areas. Giant buddha and huge temple at the top, but the real nuggets are surrounding the cliffs and quarries that line the foot of the hill. If you never make it to the top to see a giant golden cross-dresser, have no fear, the rest is worth the entry fee.

The temple is in Panyu, far from the center of Guangzhou and so can take maybe 2-3 hours to get to but I found the hassle to be quite worth it. When I went, the temple was clean, well-maintained, and not crowded which is highly unusual in mainland China! The Guanyin statue is beautiful and there's lots to see and photograph. Highly recommended.
