“Poorly managed, filthy rooms, not as advertised”
Reviewed October 1, 2013

I booked this apartment online, and as the timing of our visit was when the international trade fair was on, we had limited options. We chose this as it advertised a pool and gym. However, I relied upon the professional photos to judge by. I had not seen this apartment on Trip Advisor before, as it was called 'She&He Central International Apartments'. Thus, I'd missed out seeing the poor reviews.
We booked a 'double deluxe' room, which was to have two double beds (we had our teenage son with us), but when we arrived, we were told no double rooms were available, and would just the one bed do!!! Ummm - NO, it will not do!! They then scrounged around and found a foldaway bed and sheets.
in the room, I found only enough towels for two of us, and when I went back to the managers' room (not a front desk, but another apartment on the 14th floor set up with a desk and office equipment), I was told they didn't have any more towels until the laundry had been returned. They gave me an extra hand towel! Two extra towels were brought to the room an hour or so later.
The room stank like something had died in there. The cutlery, plates, cups etc hadn't been cleaned, the microwave had crusts from an old pizza in it, and the bathroom/toilet was filthy. The coffee table (the only thing which could be used to eat off in the room) was sticky, as was much of the tiled floor. From the nearby grocery store, I stocked up on antibacterial wipes, room deodorisers, and our own cutlery etc, and set about cleaning the room so I could feel comfortable.
The air con unit was noisy, and distributed what smelt like mouldy recycled air.
The pool was empty, with several huge cracks through the bottom of it - I doubt it had been in use for quite some time. Couldn't manage to find out where the gym was.
This was by far the worst accommodation we've ever stayed in.

the property is not a hotel; the name is correct it is an apartment it is operated as a condotel but because there are other offices in the building people just come and go and you have that feeling that security is lax and an eerie feeling that one is not safe; the location is quite good near to interesting places; it is understandable that the place is not maintained; the check in desk has a look of a kitchen, if you expect something nice or with a charming receptionist girl you would be frustrated; the one attending you is a caretaker and a househelp

The Hotel is located in a nice zone in Guangzhou. Jianshi district and Taojin District are very international areas, with a lot of shopping opportunities. The Hotel is frequented mostly by westerners and mid-eastern citizens it seemed, which means staff speaks some english. Metro lines are no far away. We payed 328RMB per night which is a good price, and the rooms are quite spacious. Unfortunately the overhead lightning is neon. Hotel pictures show halogenuous lights in the ceiling but the only way to have smooth light is to turn off the overhead lightning and switch on the bedlights. Bathroom is a little bit small, and there are not too many places to put your stuff.
The problem was that it all seemed a bit unclean which can't really be seen on the pictures but when you look at the details you see like stains on the walls and so.
Towels had tags from different Hotels such as "Jenny Hotel" or so which makes you think they buy scrapped clothes from other Hotels. The bedclothes also seemed to be very old and walls had stains, the kitchen wasn't really maintained in a way you would really enjoy cooking there (grease spots on handles for example), the refrigerator was unclean, the bathroom was mouldy and the table was streaky. Furthermore there was no bathmat and they provided only one bath towel and a tiny towel, so we always had to call them to provide us another set. A pair of slippers was provided but you wouldn't really know if they were left by another guest. We actually booked a "luxury room" with carpeted floor but they said they didn't have any right now and the carpeted rooms had problems with insects so the stone floor rooms were more "hygenic". They also just gave us just one room key. "Lobby" (a tiny room) is on 14th floor, Room 1415. 2615 is the Lobby of the MG Apartments which is another appartment brand in the same building. Overall I think I would not come here again. It's ok but I'd consider it low level which is a pitty because if they maintained the rooms better and offerend better lightnings it would be quite ok as you can see from the pics, but if you value a certain standard of cleanliness you would certainly fell a bit uncomfortable here.
