We visited here on our last day in Guangzhou and really enjoyed it. The animals all look very healthy and well cared for. The park is very clean with some of the cleanest toilets we came across in Guangzhou. We visited mid week and almost had the place to ourselves. You can buy food to feed the animals which was nice. Worth making the effort to visit.

We visited here with a combo ticket with Chimelong theme park. You can get here by metro, taking roughly about 25 mins from Linhexi. There are a lot of exhibits in the park, with quite a lot of space dedicated to the animals, so it's good to see they appear well looked after. Some places though, the Chinese tourists were throwing food into exhibits and the keepers didn't seem to do much about it...not sure if this is a good thing. There is a Safari train which takes you on a trip through a range of animal areas...quite nice, but be warned, Chinese mainlanders are very rude and will just push in, no matter if there is a queue or not. The Jurassic Trail is a walk through animatronic exhibit, and I must say it was actually really fun. Worth a visit if you have half a day to spare in Guangzhou.

All animals seemed to be very happy - huge facilities and very well laid out with plenty of reasonably priced food and drink stops all over the place.
You could see all animals were well cared for and for a zoo had huge facilities and play areas. The park is split into two section a self drive half and a walking section. The self drive also has a free train ride for though who don’t have a car. While some of the “shows” were a little naff the experience as a hole is not worth missing.
Don’t miss the animal nursery we were lucky enough to feed a 2mth old white tiger!

I was pleasantly surprised, at CNY$200 per person it was not cheap and I had high expectations already. As I walked through the park, there was a african bird show that was absolutely spectacular with no expense spared and that was just the beginning. There was a white tiger show with close to 18 white tigers at one time!

I don't want to spoil the fun here but feeding the animals and riding the elephants are just some of the things you can do and believe me, you can spend a full day here. Don't to take a trip through the safari as you will see up close all the native animals around the world.

If you thing you're done here, there is also other theme parks that you can check out. You should catch the subway here and they call it Chimelong safari park so don't get confused with xiangjiang safari - they are both correct.

The Safari Park has a wonderful collection of animals. The enclosures are mostly well designed, clean and not too depressing. However, the park's focus is clearly on entertainment, not on education. When the tram drives through the safari and stops in front of an enclosure, there is someone whose job it is to throw food at the animals so that they rear up and vocalize. I found this extremely disturbing. There is one area of the park where (for an additional fee) you're allowed to hold a baby white tiger while someone snaps your photo. The giraffes are fed all day long by visitors who can purchase leaves sold specifically for this purpose. It would be great to see Chimelong evolve towards a more enlightened view of animal husbandry where we try to create as natural an environment as possible for the animals, where we teach people to respect and value animals period, not just as sources of entertainment. The gift shop should be swept free of all the plush stuffed toys and filled with science-related games, books, and DVDs. I would pay a premium for that.
