I was pleasantly surprised, at CNY$200 per person it was not cheap and I had high expectations already. As I walked through the park, there was a african bird show that was absolutely spectacular with no expense spared and that was just the beginning. There was a white tiger show with close to 18 white tigers at one time!

I don't want to spoil the fun here but feeding the animals and riding the elephants are just some of the things you can do and believe me, you can spend a full day here. Don't to take a trip through the safari as you will see up close all the native animals around the world.

If you thing you're done here, there is also other theme parks that you can check out. You should catch the subway here and they call it Chimelong safari park so don't get confused with xiangjiang safari - they are both correct.

The Safari Park has a wonderful collection of animals. The enclosures are mostly well designed, clean and not too depressing. However, the park's focus is clearly on entertainment, not on education. When the tram drives through the safari and stops in front of an enclosure, there is someone whose job it is to throw food at the animals so that they rear up and vocalize. I found this extremely disturbing. There is one area of the park where (for an additional fee) you're allowed to hold a baby white tiger while someone snaps your photo. The giraffes are fed all day long by visitors who can purchase leaves sold specifically for this purpose. It would be great to see Chimelong evolve towards a more enlightened view of animal husbandry where we try to create as natural an environment as possible for the animals, where we teach people to respect and value animals period, not just as sources of entertainment. The gift shop should be swept free of all the plush stuffed toys and filled with science-related games, books, and DVDs. I would pay a premium for that.

A very well cared safari, you can either explore by foot or paid a fee for a ride. There are many restaurants and stalls selling food and drinks should anyone get hungry. My children really love it that they can finally be up close with pandas! The also took turns to take a photo with a koalo for a fee although you can't hold the koala, you could put your hand on the small of its back. It's really an amazing trip for the children!

Spent around 4 hours in the park and the safari park is pretty big. Unlike other zoos in China, this zoo is organised, clean and tidy. You can feed the animals and pet the animals which it makes a great place for children and family.

Should pay attention that thousands of people will leave the zoo together when it is about to close. You may need to wait 15-30 minutes for their free transport back to the mass railway station as well as other chimlong zones.

Also, to save your pocket, bring food and beverages before getting there.

We spent the afternoon at this park. We rode through the park in a trolley and the animals were up close to us. Our granddaughters loved the park, and they loved feeding the animals and visiting the animal nursery.
