My first visit to this mosque was as a child over 40 years ago. At that time much of the original mosque was still standing. The mosque now has been rebuilt and has lost all of its original features. The original mosque must have been demolished when this new mosque was built. This is a shame because you lose the feel of the original essence of the place.

Perform umrah or hajj won't be complete without visiting this masjid as this is one of few historical premises available in medina. If you travel by yourself without travel agent/city guide,
just hire a taxi and go there as ALL PEOPLE even the taxi driver didn't speak english! (as gps didnt really work well if you want to drive) JUST MAKE SURE YOU BARGAIN FOR THE TAXI PRICE IN ADVANCE or else they'll make you coughing up a lot of riyals. if you want souvenir, there will be plenty of street vendor outside the mosque selling souvenir and gift. make sure you bring people who speak arabic to handle all those bargaining task or get prepared with your skill in tarzan language :D

Excellent historic architecture; significance of this mosque is that it is here where the direction where one prays changed towards Kaaba. The mosque is beautiful and we visited here as a part of our Ziaarat and our excellent chauffeur explained the importance of this mosque quite beautifully Of course we earned our 'Good Deeds' by praying here and look forward to visiting Masjid-e-Qiblatain again.

Its exciting to see the original direction of prayer to northwest and then change to south side in this mosque
