A standard hotel at best, the Dammam Palace belongs to that era when men smoked a dozen cigarettes while drinking tiny cups of coffee. The smell of smoke carries up to the rooms, along with the casual indifference to service.
I stayed for nearly two weeks, and towards the end I rarely left my room. I'd gotten used to the smell of smoke, but not the Saudi heat. Fortunately, there were lots of English cable channels and the room service was above average.
The hotel is near a highway in an area that could easily be mistaken for New Delhi. It's a taxi to either the corniche or Oeitham Mall.
I recommend this hotel for a short stay, especially if someone else is paying.More
