I have not been here for a while, and now the place has been renovated. We went around 3pm on a Saturday and the place was packed. It appeared it may be understaff for the large amount of patrons. The food was not as good as it used to be. Bland tasting. The renovation was nice, but the place was so noisy, and not enjoyable to be in for any length of time. Not sure I will return

A colleague and I needed to take a break, and Gulf Royal, located in the al Rashid Mall in Khobar, had been recommended. I generally have low expectations for restaurants in this area, so I was wonderfully surprised here. The waitstaff were very attentive, knowledgeable, and helpful. We order chicken dumplings that were amazing, with multiple sauce options (I loved the spicy hot version - oh, so good!). Entrees included garlic chicken, chicken/been/shrimp rice noodles, and kind of a sweet/sour shrimp that wasn't too much of either - it was all delicious! I will come back to this place, and will recommend it to my friends.

Really like this place - it is one of the better Chinese places in Al Khobar. Has open seating and do not mind a woman on her own dropping in for a quick meal while shopping

The restaraunt located in the Rashid Mall is easy to find out. And its menu contains abundant chinese food for selecting and most of them are very chinese from their name. However, the taste is not so delicious as I ate in China. Even some of the dishes the taste is strange. What's more, the price here is expensive.
